Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women University formerly known as Karnataka State Women's University, established in 2003 in the city of Vijayapura (Formerly Bijapur), is the only Women's University in Karnataka dedicated exclusively for women's education. It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. It has been accredited 'B'grade by NAAC. The university is also a recipient of four Stars in KSURF rankings. One hundred and fifty eight women's colleges of Karnataka, are affiliated to this University and one P G center at Sindhanoor and also at Udutadi, one Extension center at Mandya are also offering various programmes.

The University offers various UG programmes leading to Bachelor's degree in Arts, Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Education, Fashion Technology, Home Science, Physical Education, Science and Social Work. It also offers 30 P G Courses, P G Diploma and Certificate Courses in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Management, Social Sciences, Science and Technology and Education.

Founded in 2003, Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Bijapur, formerly known as Karnataka State Women's University (KSWU) has seventy women’s colleges affiliated to it. It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. The university offers various UG and PG programs under the departments of humanities, social science, science, and technology, etc. along with several Diploma as well as Certificate courses. KSWU is also recognized from DEC and offers several courses through distance learning mode across India and abroad.

KSWU Application Process

The Candidates who wish to pursue higher studies courses at KSWU have to apply at the official website of the university.
The candidates need to register by filling all the necessary details.
The payment for the applications is made online through Credit/ Debit cards or Net Banking.
The candidates are advised to retain the copy of application form and payment receipt for further reference.

The placement cell is committed to provide all possible assistance to its post graduate students in their efforts to find employment.

The placement service operates year around to facilitate contacts between companies/institutions and students. This may include advice on placement proceedures; help to prepare application and curriculum vitae/resume. Scholarships

The scholarship is awarded in accordance with a variety of different factors and allocations are mostly given to minorities who cannot afford the tuition fees for their education. There is an instance, a social welfare department which allows students who earn less than INR 2.5 Lakhs annually are eligible in the event that they can provide their caste and income proof as proof.

There are many scholarships available to students pursuing various courses. Girls Hostel
Hostel facilities with spacious dining halls, prayer halls, and recreation centers are established in the Jnana Shakti campus managed by lady wardens with requisite infrastructure and round-the-clock security accommodating 700 students. Students are advised to submit their applications in the prescribed format for admission to hostels immediately after the Counseling for PG Admissions along with relevant documents and duly certified by the Chairperson. Students seeking admissions to BCM and SC/ST hostels are also advised to contact the SC/ST Cell. Students seeking admission to Minority hostels are advised to contact the Equal Opportunity Cell.

Medical/Hospital
A health center is well equipped with all basic facilities, from first aid to emergency treatment. The center also has an ambulance. It also regularly conducts health check-up camps. The Health center works from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm and the night duty lady medical officer attends to the medical needs of the inmates during night hours.

Gym
A well-equipped health fitness center with a qualified instructor is set up on the premises of the Department of Physical Education. It is open from 6.30 am to 8.30 am in the morning and from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm in the evening for the use of all students. The center is equipped with 8 station multi gym, manual treadmill, motorized heavy-duty treadmill, magnetic bike, magnetic cycle, competition Olympian barbell set, chrome dumbbells, etc.

Library
The Central Library facility is available at Jnanashakti Campus and a separate and Independent Library Building is constructed with 10298.62 Sq.mtr. at the new campus. The library opens from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm on all working days and from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm on all Sundays and general holidays. The library is equipped with a rich collection of books, and periodicals, including e-sources. It also has many books on competitive examinations and career development for ready reference. The library data collection service has been automated using the library software package KOHA. The library subscribes to e-journals and provides internet facilities. An inventory of the books available in the library (Books Catalogue) is made available in all the departments. A limited number of books is given for one complete running semester to the SC/ST Students. A Digital Library is established on the Jnanashakti campus. UGC-Infonet facilities for accessing online databases and facilities to view A-VIEW are available on the Jnanashakti campus. Technical Information Classification Scheme followed DDC 23rd edition. Cataloging followed AACR2R Books are shelved according to Subject-wise. Sports
Directorate of Sports conducts training camps in various indoor and outdoor games. It conducts Inter-Departmental, Inter-Collegiate, and Inter-University competitions. The University is developing its own sports complex and indoor gym facilities. Students of this university are known for their outstanding performance in sports and have excelled in state, national and international level sports.

I.T Infrastructure
All the departments are equipped with full-fledged Computer Laboratories with an Internet facility. A Central Computer Facility with Internet connectivity is available for students in the Science Block. Students can also access the Internet facility in the library.

Cafeteria
A canteen facility is available on the campus providing tea, coffee, snacks, and wholesome food at affordable rates.

Auditorium
The University has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

Alumni Associations
It registers all graduates for employment assistance, organizes lecturers, conducts interactive sessions through professional career guidance consultants, and also organizes career exhibitions and campus interviews for the students of the university.

The University has a Wi-Fi facility for the students and staff.

Laboratories
The University has a departmental-based laboratories facility for the students.

Transport Facilities

The Karnataka State Women's University has its transport facility, and buses ply between hostels, city campus, Jnanashakti and Ramnagar campuses. The AWUV transport facility is also available for students and the general public. The Directorate of Student Welfare coordinates the transport facility.
