Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University (short name: KSAWU), located in Vijayapura (formerly Bijapur) in Karnataka, India, is a public state university established in August 2003 with the purpose of promoting women’s higher education and empowerment across the region. It was founded by the Government of Karnataka to create an inclusive academic platform dedicated exclusively to women, aiming to foster knowledge, leadership, skill development and socio-economic growth among female students in the state.
The university’s main campus—Jnanashakti Campus—is situated along Athani Road, Torvi, Vijayapura, Karnataka – 586108. The university also provides scholarships and financial aid, including post-matric scholarships under government welfare schemes and merit- or category-based support.
The university campus is equipped with a well-stocked central library with automated operations, internet/INFILIBNET access, hostel accommodation, health centre, ICT facilities, laboratories, sports grounds, canteen, and student support services including counseling and an ICT cell. A Women’s Technology Park and guest accommodation facilities are also available to support holistic development and research.
KSAWU has an operational Placement Cell that facilitates career counselling, industry interactions, skill development workshops and recruitment activities. Graduates—particularly from professional and technical programs—are supported in securing internships and job opportunities with industry recruiters.
