History
As flag bearers of excellence in professional education in South Kerala, “Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society” was given birth by the initiative of Rev. Fr. Joseph Kurinjiparampil, with the encouragement and association of a few Syrian Catholic Parishioners in Thiruvananthapuram, who have left indelible imprints in the segment of education and with the blessings and patronage of His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, the then Archbishop of Changanacherry.

Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology established by the “Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society”, has been approved by the Govt of Kerala and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) vide order No: 06/06/KER/ENGG 2002-03 dated 27-05-2002 and is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.

The College has a spacious campus of 25 acres at Kuttichal,a rustic village in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city, hardly 24 km away from it. The scenic beauty and virgin surroundings of the picturesque lush green rubber plantations in the backdrop of misty Western Ghats and the serene, tranquil hillock provide a perfect environment for harmonious study. The vision of the Lourdes Matha Educational Society is to establish a “Centre of Excellence” in the field of Engineering and Technology to mould world class professionals.

His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottam, the Archbishop of Changanacherry is the Patron and Spiritual Guide and Dr. Thomas Padiyath, Vicar General is the president.

Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology (LMCST) is an awesome college. Placements: The placements for the students of the mechanical department are poor. The college offers many placement opportunities for the students of the Computer Science department. The college has the best placement cell.

1.2.Academic Requirements

For both Government and Management quota, candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subject with at least 45% marks put together in the above subjects are eligible for admission. (In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered).
The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of Examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/ SEBC and the candidates included in the PwD quota list published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, the minimum marks required for admission shall be 5% less than that prescribed for general category.

1.3.Age

Applicants should have completed 17 years of age on December 2023.

Candidates should qualify in the Engineering Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Govt of Kerala

2.Selection Process
50% of seats will be filled as per the allotment list from the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations- Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
The remaining 50% seats will be filled by the College on the basis of merit. Seats are reserved for Open Merit, Christian Community and NRI categories

2.1.Preparation of Merit list and Allotment of Seats in the Management Quota

Admission will be on the basis of merit only by adding marks obtained in the entrance examination conducted by the State Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and the marks obtained for Mathematics,Physics and Chemistry / equivalent in the qualifying examination. The mark will be apportioned in the ratio of 50:50.

7. Guidelines for NRI admission
i. Candidates should be children or dependents of NRI.
ii. Complete 17 years of age as on 31st Dec. 2023.
iii. Candidates who have passed HSE/Equivalent with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/equivalent put together are eligible for admission under NRI Quota.
iv. “NRI FEE” once paid will not be refunded.
v. Candidate can reserve their NRI seats by depositing the fee in Indian rupees.
vi. Students admitted in NRI scheme cannot change the institution / Course under any circumstances.
vii. Admission fee, Caution deposit, Special fee and annual tuition fee will be same for all.

Career Guidance & Placement Unit
Lourdes Matha College Of Science And Technology - [LMCST], Trivandrum Placement and Training Cell of the College is working under the leadership of the Placement officer and Faculty coordinators along with the help of student coordinators from various departments. The Cell assists the students to secure employment in reputed organizations. The cell arranges vacation training and project work for them in industries. The Training and Placement Cell arranges management skill development programmes and personality development programmes. The Training and Placement Cell is continuously organizing training programmes to enhance the employability of the students. Merit Cum Means Scholarship For Professional And Technical Course


Must belong to Minority communities (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Parsis/Zoroastrians)
Must be pursuing a technical or professional course at undergraduate or postgraduate level from a recognised institution
Must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination
Must belong to the family where the annual income is not more than INR 2.50 lakh from all the sources
Must get admission on the basis of the competitive entrance examination or must have scored at least 50% in class 12 or graduation (in case of direct admission)

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

Applicants must belong to a minority community as notified by the Government of India. These include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains.
The candidates must be studying in class 11 or above. Thus, the students studying in class 11,12, graduate, postgraduate, technical or vocational courses, M.Phil or PhD are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Students applying for this MOMA scholarship should have scored a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination.
The annual family income of the candidate’s parents/guardian should not exceed INR 2 lakh. This annual income comprises of total income from all the sources.

SC/ST/OEC/OBC SCHOLARSHIPS

The applicant should be a domicile of Kerala state.
Students studying in the post-matriculation level of study from any recognized college/ board are eligible to apply.
The applicants should not have an attendance of less than 75% at the end of each month.
The candidate should have taken admission under the merit and reservation quota.
Students belonging to SC/ OBC/ Other Eligible community [OEC] and Other socially/ economically backward communities are eligible to apply.
The candidates belonging to SC and OEC do not have any annual family income limitations.
The annual family income of OBC students should not exceed INR 1,00,000 for pursuing +2, Degree, Postgraduation and Professional courses.

Having minimum 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of new applicant. Central Sector Scheme For University Students


Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent and pursuing regular courses (not correspondence or distance mode) in Colleges/Institutions recognized by All India Council of Technical Education, UGC Act, 1956, Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India and respective regulatory authorities and not availing benefit of any other scholarship scheme including State run scholarship schemes/Fee waiver and -2- reimbursement scheme are eligible under the scheme. Students pursuing Diploma courses are not eligible under the scheme.

The awarded and selected students are provided with the following benefits:

10 percent of the total seats are reserved for primary KVS scholarship (33 for 330 total seats)

Top 10 students among the selected meritorious candidates are eligible for 100 percent tuition fee remission i.e, reimbursement of INR 75,000/- for those students who study in LMCST.
Additionally, they are eligible for a designated Scholarship of INR 20,000 (INR 5000 per year). This is procurable if they are studying engineering in any self-financing colleges in Kerala including LMCST.

Remaining 23 students pinned in the merit list are eligible for tuition fee reduction up to Rs.40000/- every year if they are pursuing B.Tech in LMCST.

In addition to the 10 percent (33 seats) KVS scholarship seats, additional candidates who have qualified in the KVS examination will be provided with INR 10,000 as tuition fee reduction every year for pursuing a B.Tech degree in LMCST.

The classrooms, units, and laboratories of the Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology are spacious, comfortable, and designed to ensure the highest quality of education. The library is excellent too, with a huge range of books, online resources, and knowledgeable librarians.

Library (LMCST), Trivandrum
LMCST The Central Library is fully automated and Koha software is used for lending, procurement, OPAC, etc. All library materials are barcoded, and books are released to users after material barcodes are scanned. The college has a central library and 6 departmental libraries. The reading room is well equipped. An exclusive reference work is available in the library. A visitor log is kept for employees and students. CCTV cameras were installed in the library for close monitoring. The library has more than 26,460 books and about 500 e-journals on various fields of engineering and technology. The LMCST Central Library is a member of DELNET, which provides access to full-text e-books and 500 national and international e-journals. The central library is a member of the NDL, which has more than 6 missing e-books in its inventory.

Computer room (LMCST), Trivandrum
It is the focal point of IT resources shared between all departments and the college office. Hours of operation for this facility are 8:40 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. each college weekday.(LMCST), Trivandrum central computer system has a total of 60 computers in a laboratory that is connected to each other via a local network. This property is powered by a 200 Mbit/s RailWire internet connection. The CCF is equipped with an online UPS system that provides uninterrupted power to the facility, including the main network. This allows the property to have a 24/7 internet connection and WiFi facility if needed. This property also has a printer and projector if required. The College's Central Computer Unit has over 250 computers in 8 computer labs and server rooms on campus. These labs are served by a combined BSNL and Railwire 500 Mbps internet connection.

(LMCST), Trivandrum hostel is a home away from home that trains students with good discipline and the right attitude to become top professionals. The college has excellent living conditions for students who are admitted to various courses. There are two hostels on campus. San Patrizio Tommaso Refuge for boys and hostel for girls in Assisi.Every effort has been made to provide the best facilities for the students living on campus. Every student has access to a wide range of activities, facilities, and support. Hostels have all kinds of services that make life comfortable and pleasant for residents. The hostels have a lounge with LED TV and cable connection for leisure facilities. The students themselves are responsible for the proper maintenance of the items provided by the management. There are strict rules regarding general discipline, study times, lunch breaks, etc.
