Maharaja Institute of Technology Mysore (MITM) was established in the year 2007, by the Maharaja Educational Trust(R). It was initiated and built by a group of reputable people recognized for their eminence in the field of Science and Engineering Technology. The Institute was born as a casting of its founders’ eminence and rich experience poured into the mould of their values and aspirations. Many of them have served at the highest levels of AICTE and University. The Institute is renowned as ‘Teaching Centric’ being resourced with knowledgeable and committed faculties showing acute keenness for teaching.
Maharaja Education Trust® was established in the year 2005, not just as another new venture, but to serve the society through the educational institutions, driven by the motive to provide well balanced learning environment in educating young minds. The Trust is governed by the Board comprising of reputable and well-accomplished academicians from premier institutes of the nation who have served at the highest possible roles in the broad spectrum of education in the country. The Trust members have made it possible to instigate excellence in technical education through qualitative teaching and learning process.
MITM is spread over 25 acres of serene, beautiful, enchanting and sprawling landscape about 3 kms behind K.R.Mills and about 3 km from Columbia Asia Hospital Junction, Mysore. The campus is situated away from the urban disruption at Belavadi Village, Srirangapatna Taluk, Mandya District, Mysore, Karnataka.
MIT Mysore is an engineering college Recognized by the Government of Karnataka and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. It is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. The Institution is Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
Courses offered at MITM range from Engineering to Computer Application to Management with UG and PG degree programs. The courses include BE in 5 disciplines and MTech (in 3 disciplines) namely Thermal Power Engg, CSE, and LSP. It also offers MBA and MCA degree programs. The UG admissions are done on the basis of CET (Through KEA-Govt. of Karnataka) and COMED-K. For MTech admission a qualifying rank in either PGCET/GATE is a must. And for the MBA course a qualifying rank in either PGCET/KMAT/CMAT is a must.
MITM evaluates the success of its programs using the highest standards of quality, innovation and transparency to educate the students to become leaders in their areas of interest. In this regard, the institute is equipped with all modern learning aids to make teaching-learning process a pleasure for all its stakeholders. Along with modern day infrastructure, institute has its over 3000 students commuting through its well planned transportation facility running 50 plus buses with a wide spread network 60km in radius.
The highly qualified staff at MIT Mysore is its asset. It has three buildings. The main building contains all the undergraduate branches, Second Building for basic science departments namely Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, whereas the third building called PG Block houses the MBA and MCA departments. The Infrastructure facilities include Library & Information Centre, Research Centre, Hostel, Cafeteria, Transportation, Internet connectivity, Sports facilities, NSS, Professional Society, Student Councelling and Mentoring Cell, College Committees, etc.
The college has to its credit a high number of admissions among the 16 newly opened engineering colleges in Karnataka. The MITM Placement & Training Cell strives to equip the students with employability and professional skills through proper training and best possible placement opportunities so as to be able to thrive in their career thus contributing to the society at large. As part of its activities the P & T Cell:
· Provides professional skills training for the students through continuous training modules
· Approaches top rated companies for arranging campus recruitment and pooled drives
· Counsels the students to improve their career exposure, and
· Encourages the students to actively participate in social causes beyond the campus.
· MIT Mysore conducts its annual fest during February or March every year.
It has also conducted many Job Fairs with maximum campus recruitment. Some of their Top Recruiters who regularly participate in Campus Recruitment Drives are Infosys, NTT Data, Brillio, L & L. Hewlett Packard, IBM, to name just a few.
