  Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi is one of the most reputed private engineering colleges in South India. It  is a leading self-financing Engineering College started on 17th October 1984 in the presence of Ms.& Mr. Gunter Von Schlenk, Ms. & Mr. Erwin Flohrer from M/s. Carl Schlenk A G and Dr.S.Krishnaswamy, the then Vice Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University. It is sponsored by the Mepco Schlenk Charities, a social welfare organization of the Metal Powder Company Limited, Thirumangalam and its German collaborator, Schlenk. The college was affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai until 2002 and later with Anna University, Chennai, but since 2012 it has been affiliated with Anna University of Technology, Chennai. Shri Sv.K.M.Ramalingam, Sri.A.Tenzing and Dr.S.Arivazhagan serve as the President, Correspondent and Principal of the college respectively.  It is an ISO9001:2015 certified institution.  The college has won many awards for the outstanding performance in export promotion and R & D.  

  Mepco Schlenk Engineering College is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University from Chenni with Permanent Affiliation for 14 out of 17 Programmes. Seven UG Programmes and 4 PG Programmes are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi under Tier I Category. The College is also accredited with A Grade for a period of 5 years from February 2021 by National Assessment and accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. The college has been granted Autonomous Status by UGC, New Delhi & Anna University, Chennai from the academic year 2013-14 and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in true sense, Fast Track Scheme to undertake internship cum project during 8th semester, special courses by industry / Academic experts from India and abroad are introduced. The institution is fast catered to bridge the gap of demand and supplies of quality Engineers and Managers and completes 39th year of Service par Excellence.

  Over 3 decades of its existence, the college has many credentials : UG University Ranks - 745 (49 First Ranks); PG University / Autonomous Ranks - 281 (65 First Ranks); 10000+ students placed through campus placement.  The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 101 among engineering colleges in 2020.

   Mepco Shlenk Engineering College offers various UG, PG and Doctoral Courses  to attract the students from all over the country. It offers courses in B.Tech / BE. M.Tech / ME and Ph.D in a variety of streams.

   The infrastructure of the college is quite good and there are many facilities provided for the students so that learning can be made easy.

   The labs are fully equipped with the latest equipments and students are free to use the equipment according to their concern.

   A mineral water plant located within the campus has a capacity of 10,000 litres per day. Also on the campus are located the Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank (TMB) with ATM facility, photo copying centre, canteen, parking lot, stand-by power generators, a separate telephone exchange, television facilities in the hostel, water treatment plant, and students' amenities. The campus has Wi-Fi connectivity. Mobile phones are not allowed in this college.

  Most of the student population stays on campus in hostels. The single gender hostels, five for men and five for women, are named after important rivers in India:

 Mepco Schlenk Engineering College placement cell is headed by the Training and Placement Officer Dr S. P. Asok, who has over thirty-three years of teaching and research experience. The Training and Placement Cell of the institute holds an independent charge, while representatives from each department are chosen as Placement Faculty Representatives and Placement Student Representatives.

 This cell organises in-plant training, internship, aptitude skills training, communication skills training, behavioural skills training, coaching for students on Entrepreneurship or GRE or TOEFL or GATE etc to secure better placement results. Also, it organises faculty development programmes as well as recruitment interactions with corporates in order to prepare the students before campus placements.

 The cell is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for conducting placements. The facilities available to the placement cell include seven air-conditioned seminar halls varying with a seating capacity from 150 to 1,500 seats, audio-visual equipment, large halls, conference rooms and guest house with air-conditioned suites to provide both boarding and lodging for the recruiters.

Mepco Schlenk Engineering College Scholarships

  Mepco Schlenk Engineering College management offers scholarships for both UG and PG level students in order to motivate curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities and to bring out their talents. All candidates need to have minimum internal exam marks and no major disciplinary actions to be eligible for their respective scholarships.

 Mepco Schlenk Engineering College offers a total amount of Rs 20,000, Rs 17,500 and Rs 15,000 to all BE or B.Tech, ME or M.Tech, MBA and MCA students. It offers a total amount of Rs 12,500, Rs 10,000 and Rs 9,000 to BE-EEE, BE-ECE, BE-CSE and BE-Mechanical department students only under management Scholarships.

  There are also Sports Scholarships available for the students – National level representatives are given Rs 10,000 /-, State-level representatives are provided with Rs 7,500/-, Inter-University representatives are provided with Rs 5,000/-, University Winners are awarded Rs 5,000/-, District level Winners get a Scholarship amounting Rs 3,000/- and District level Runners-ups are offered with Rs 2,000/-.

CAD Laboratory

  CAD Lab has equipped with more than 85 Computer Systems with high end latest Configuration hardware. The software available include AutoCAD 2015, SolidWorks 2012, Pro/Engineer wildfire 3.0, SolidEdge, ANSYS 15, LS-DYNA, Materials Studio, MATLAB & Simulink, E Yantra (Design Software), I-DEAS, and CATIA V5R10 etc,.

 CAM Laboratory

   CAM laboratory is equipped with CNC production Lathe, CNC trainer Lathe, CNC Milling machine, Coordinate Measuring Machine, Vision Measuring Machine, Surface roughness tester and CADEM Software.

 Mechatronics Laboratory

   Mechatronics lab is equipped with HYDROSIM, FLUIDSIM software, Basic Pneumatic trainer kit, Computerized Data Logging System, Design & Testing of Fluid Power and Speed Control of AC Servo Motor.

 IC Engines Laboratory

    Distinct facilities like Computerized IC engine Test rig, Computerised Multi Cylinder Diesel Engine Test Rig, and Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) engine test rig, etc., are available

 Safety Engineering Laboratory

   Unique facilities like Friction tester (BAM), Ignition Temperature Apparatus, Infra Red Thermo Meter, High volume sampler, Bursting Strength Tester, Sound level meter, Temperature & Humidity Data Logger, Flue Gas analyzer are available.

    Measures the concentration of flue gases in parts per million or percentage and temperature. The flue gases which can be measured are O2, CO, NO, NO2, SO2

   Provides data on continuous exposure monitoring of toxic gases, oxygen and combustible gases for workers in hazardous environments.

 Machine Shop

   Workshop is provided with High Precision Centre Lathe, Gear Hobbing machine, Shaping, Milling, Planner, Surface Grinder and other conventional machines.

 Steam lab

  Steam Lab is equipped with Simple horizontal fire tube boiler (IBR) of capacity 600 kg/hr, pressure of 15 bar.

 Fluid Mechanics lab

   Fluid Mechanics Lab in the department is provided different equipment’s including single stage reciprocating air compressor, two-stage reciprocating air compressor, etc.

 Heat transfer and Refrigerationlab

  Heat Transfer Lab is equipped with various latest facilities to measure different modes of heat transfer includes Thermal conductivity measurement by guarded plate, Thermal conductivity of pipe insulation using lagged pipe apparatus, Natural convection heat transfer from a vertical cylinder, Forced convection inside tube, Heat transfer from pin-fin (natural & forced convection modes), Determination of Stefan-Boltzmann constant, Determination of emissivity of a grey surface, Effectiveness of Parallel/counter flow heat exchanger.

 Instrumentation & Dynamics lab

  Instrumentation & Dynamics lab is equipped with various latest facilities. Computerized Critical Speed Apparatus to determine the critical speed of the shaft. Epicyclic Gear train , Speed reducer Gear box, Speed measurement by Magnetic, Optical, and tachometer, Load cell measurement, linear variable differential transformer., Temperature measurement, Motorized Gyroscope , Static and Dynamic Balancing analysis, Balancing of reciprocating Mass, Cam profile analysis and governor setup (Watt, Porter, Proell, and Hartnell) and Compound pendulum flywheel.

Model Room

  Model Room containing more than 60 models. More than 50 wall charts and nearly 300 slides are available. The students are encouraged to work with the model to get practical training.
