Nehru School of Architecture (NSA)

Established in 2015, the Nehru School of Architecture (NSA) was created under the famous Nehru Group of Institutions in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.  It is a prestigious co-educational School established under the aegis of The Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust.  NSA is headed by Dr. Amrutha Sachin as its Director.

Nehru School of Architecture is functioning from the Nehru Aeuronautical Campuson Palakkad Main Rd, Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu which is well-connected to various important points in the city.

NSA is approved by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University and The Indian Institute of Architects.

The college offers a 5-year Architecture course – B.Arch, approved by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi, which also includes 6 months of internship and a thesis. The exam accepted for admission is NATA.

The Nehru School of Architecture has its own Library & Reading Room with the state of the art facilities and exclusive collection of journals, books and other resources.  The college maintains a secure and safe environment for its resident students with a high standard of hygiene.  NSA also provides a host of modern and high tech amenities like Lecture Hall, Computer Centre, Conference Room, Nehru Consultancy Cell, Resource Centre, Transportation, Survey Lab, Material Museum, Construction Workshop, Mode-making Workshop, Carpentry Workshop, Climatology Lab, CADD Lab, Art Studio, Lecture Halls, Separate Design Studios, etc.

NSA students have full access to a Carpentry Workshop which was introduced in order to impart practical knowledge of the types of wood along with their usage and the type of jobs involving them. These workshops are aimed at providing ample production space and an extensive array of hand tools.  NSA, Coimbatore organises all sorts of sports, cultural and other social activities along with intercollegiate events throughout the programme.

NSA, Coimbatore It is a certified NATA test centre which endeavours to make all its graduates industry-ready. The institute has also signed an MoU with Triple O Studio which is a design firm in Chennai and Coimbatore.

Nehru School of Architecture has an Anti-Ragging committee for the well-being of its students.  It has an effective Placement Cell that ensures students are connected to the industry both for their projects & internships as well as for Job Placements.  Some of the companies who are among the recruiters for NSA are Amazon | Cognizant | Dell | Future Group | Google | HP | Infosys | TCS | TVS Group.

ADMISSIONS

Eligibility

• 10+2 or equivalent examination of Central/State Govts. with 50% aggregate marks and with Mathematics as a compulsory subject of examination; OR
• 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Govts. with 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics as a compulsory subject of examination; OR
• International Baccalaureate Diploma passed/appearing, after 10 years of Schooling with 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination
• Qualified a recognized aptitude test in Architecture (NATA or equivalent) in 2018

Qualifying Marks For NATA

• A minimum of 25% must be secured in MCQ portion (30 out of 120)
• A minimum of 25% must be secured in Drawing portion (20 out of 80)
• Overall qualifying marks (70 out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

NEHRU SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE  facilities :

The library has been established with state of art infrastructure to the standards at Third floor .It has specialized collections of books, journals & other resources in Architecture and civil engineering ranging from printed books, e-books, back volumes, Cds/Dvds. The library subscribes to national and international journals in print e-journals. The library is using WINLMS software for library management and information system purpose and it has web - OPAC (Online public access catalogue Facility) to consult the library information .

Survey lab

Land surveying is basically an art and science of mapping and measuring land. it actually boils down to calculate where the land boundaries are situated. This is very important as without this service, there would not have been railroads, skyscrapers could not have been erected and neither any individual could have put fences around their yards for not intruding others land.

Surveying has to do with the determination of the relative spatial location of points on or near the surface of the earth. It is the art of measuring horizontal and vertical distances between objects, of measuring angles between lines, of determining the direction of lines, and of establishing points by predetermined angular and linear measurements. Distances, angles, directions, locations, elevations, areas, and volumes are thus determined from the data of the survey.

The survey lab has various equipments like Total survey station, Theodilite, dumpy level, survey or compass, ranging rods, levelling staff, chain methods, measuring tapes etc

Material Museum

The museum has variety of building materials displayed separately according the semesters lessons and also new materials that is been introduced in the market.

The model making workshop is done in the material museum and art court depending upon the type of studio or model.

Carpentry Workshop

The carpentry or wooden workshop is a place where students are given practical knowledge about the types of wood and usage and told to jobs on it. Faculty with all skill level have access the carpentry workshop to provide good knowledge to students. Workshops provide ample production space access to power tools and extensive array of hand tools. Individual instruction in tool use and safety is required and is provided by staff and technicians.

CLIMATOLOGY LAB

Climatic information of a place is an important parameter while designing buildings. Climatology is a part of B.ARCH program. In order to make students aware of the importance of designing according to the climate, a climatology lab with modern equipments has been established.

CADD LAB

The CAD Lab consists of PCs, laser jet printers, a study table and work spaces for laptop users. A large variety of software is available in each machine as well as permanent connections to the campus network and the internet.

Art Studio

Nehru School of Architecture gives opportunity for the students to improve the creativity and artistic skill of the students by assisting the students in doing art works like sketching, glass painting, clay products, mask making , painting etc.

We provide with separate studio with necessary facilities in guiding the students along with our Artist.

Lecture Halls

NSA has good lecture hall for all the year students separately with the projector, white board and green board facilities so that our lecturers and professors can use all medium to teach the students.

The lecture hall also has the sufficient table and chairs for the students.

Studio

• Our college has separate Design studio for all the year students separately.,
• Each studio has sufficient drawing boards and stools/chairs.
• The studios also has no of pinup boards so that our students can display their works then and there during the studio hours.
• Students are allowed to use the studios whenever necessary.

• Transport Facility

  The college is providing efficient transportation facilities for the staff and students to nearby places/towns. The college has more than 150 buses.
