ADMISSION CRITERIA

Any candidate who has passed two- year Pre-University Course of Karnataka State or any other Examination recognized as equivalent is eligible for admission to six semester Degree Programmes.

Candidates seeking admission to B.Sc. Degree programme should have studied at least two Science subjects as electives at the Pre-University level.

Rules for Admission.

All admissions are provisional and subject to approval by the University of Mysore.
Admission of candidates is made on the basis of marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination.
Admissions are made on the condition that students will abide by the rules and regulations of the college.
Admissions are made on a year-to-year basis. Students are required to get themselves admitted for the Second / Third year at the beginning of each academic year to continue their studies in the college.
Students become eligible for promotion to the next class after satisfying conditions such as required percentage of attendance, academic progress and good conduct.
The Principal reserves the right of admission.

Candidates once admitted cannot claim refund of fees paid.
Students with undesirable antecedents, improper conduct will not be allowed to get admission to the next class.
Parents (Guardians if parents are not alive) accompanying the student is mandatory at the time of admission.
Overseas and Non-Karnataka Students

International students seeking admission to I, II and III Degree programmes are required to produce Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Mysore, besides valid student visa and passport.
Candidates from other states seeking admission to I, II and III Degree programmes are required to produce Migration Certificate from the Board / University where they studied last and Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Mysore.

Online submission : E Applications can be downloaded from the web-site and submitted. However, this should be followed by hard copy for being considered for actual admission.

NOTE: The Admission formalities would be completed only after producing the necessary documents and payment of fee in the college.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
Code of Conduct

Students are directed to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner so as to accomplish the aspirations expressed in the Mission Statement of the college.
Students are expected to have respectful interactions with both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Students have to play a pro-active role in all the activities organized in the college.
The college property has to be utilized with care by the students so as to avoid any damage and the college is liable to recover from students any consequential penalty in cases of damage.
Students collecting money on any grounds in the college premises are strictly prohibited. However, any such funds - mobilization for social or charitable purpose may be considered by the genuineness of the proposal that needs the approval of the Principal as well as the permission of the management.
Participation of students in political agitations, demonstrations is strictly prohibited, the violation of which will lead to student’s rustication.
The utilization of the library and sports facilities by the students in the college during their free time is appreciated.
Bringing four-wheelers to the college is prohibited and the students with two-wheelers are instructed to park their vehicles in the allotted parking slots.
Using cell-phones inside the college campus is prohibited and the violation of which would attract heavy-penalty.
Ragging is strictly prohibited and punishable under Sec.2 (29), 116 of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983.
Consumption of alcohol is also punishable under Law

Scholership

The candidates must be studying in Classes 11 and 12 at a recognised educational institution in India. Applicants must have scored at least 60% marks in the preceding class. The annual family income of the applicants from all sources must be less than or equal to₹2,50,000.

Facilities and Infrastructure
Mahajana First Grade College Mahajana First Grade College is located in Jayalakshmipuram - the prime residential locality of Mysore. It is easily accessible from the vantage points of the city through public modes of transportation.

Residential Accommodations
Hostel facilities for women students are provided.
Library

The library is housed in a separate wing with an independent Reference Section. It has a collection of 32,064 books, leading journals and periodicals numbering 75 including a few international journals such as Harvard Business Review, National Geography and Political Weekly etc. In the era of information dissemination, the library has succeeded in upgrading itself to modern technology. The fully automated library has its entire repository bar coded. It is in possession of a digital collection of 850 prized CDs on important subjects. Staff and Students can access e-resources through inflibnet N-List (funded by the Ministry of HRD) and J-gate. This provides access to more than 6,000 e-journals and 97,000 e-books. The students can go through 17 different newspapers and 100-plus magazines and journals.
Auditorium
The institution has two auditoriums: Vivekananda Hall and Silver Jubilee Open Air Theatre. These are well equipped with a public address system and acoustics and cater to the requirements of assemblage on a variety of occasions. The pride of the college is its two state-of-the-art Audio–Visual Centres: AVC – I and AVC – II.

Stadium & Gymnasium
The college has Jagadeesh Prasad Stadium, where facilities for outdoor and indoor sports are provided. It has a Multi-Gymnasium with good instructional facilities. A state-of-the-art Indoor stadium is being planned.

Labs
The college has well-equipped laboratories, rich in facilities, for various disciplines like Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Computer Science, Criminology & Forensic Science, Geography and Psychology. A Business Lab is also set up to facilitate the teaching of Commerce and Management subjects. Language lab is being set up to enhance communication skills among students by offering an add-on course in English grammar usage and phonetics.

Student Parliament
In the academic year 2006-07, structural reconstruction and re-working of the existing student support units were carried out. A broad-based student parliament was conceived, which saw a systematized selection of Class Representatives (CRs) in the ratio of 1:10 and the appointment of Organizing Secretaries to various committees. Prime Monitor and Deputy Prime Monitor are elected on monthly basis. This resulted in the successful establishment of a student network with deeper penetration, ensuring full-fledged participation of the student community in all the activities. This restructuring has been further reinforced with the establishment of the ASIC committees, which is mandatory for every single student and staff member of the college.

Sports Facilities
Students are encouraged to participate in all kinds of sports and games and attain robust physical fitness through sportsmanship. The College regularly holds Annual Athletic meets, and inter-class competitions and hosts the Sri R.V. Ganesh Memorial City Inter-collegiate Volleyball and Sri Rattehalli Ramappa Memorial Throwball tournaments. The college has gained a reputation in the field of sports with its sportspersons winning coveted titles, trophies and championships. It is a matter of pride for the college that its sportsmen and sportswomen have donned the university and the national colours.
