About Us
Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, a constituent college of Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research under the aegis of Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust for Backward Classes, Kolar, is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

The college and the University office are located at Tamaka village, Kolar and spread over almost 100 acres of lush green campus. This campus is 75K.M. away from Bangaluru as well as the Bangaluru International Airport. The campus has several buildings to accommodate the administrative, teaching/training, hospital, hostel facilities of The University and the Medical College with a total build up area of 85,000 sq.mtrs. The college conducts medical courses at Under Graduate (MBBS), Post Graduate (MD, MS) and Post Graduate Diploma levels and plans to start doctoral programmes in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship programme in Head and Neck Onco- Surgery . The University has also decided to design a revised curriculum for MBBS course within the regulations as prescribed by the Medical Council of India. This medical institution has a unique distinction of accreditation by NAAC India and certification by ISO 9001-2000 and maintains a high standard in teaching learning evaluation process and the institution has become a byword for quality Medical Education.

The attached teaching hospital of the Medical College, R.L.Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre provides secondary and tertiary health care to the rural and urban population of the Kolar district and bordering areas of the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and is also a boon to the victims of accidents on the highway as it has a well equipped Trauma Centre, ICU and scanning facilities of CT and MRI. Its mandate is to develop trained manpower of medical professionals to cater to the needs of the community and provide service to the needy rural population. The University also has set up an OP Unit at Kolar town and conducts committed outreach services to the needy through free medical camps at taluk levels as well as in villages of remote areas.

The admission process involves filling out an application form and being interviewed by the principal and teachers. Eligible incoming first year students will receive a letter of invitation during the admission process. The outcome of the admission process may affect a student's future career trajectory considerably.

It is necessary to complete at least a year of internship after studying the course for 4.5 years. Some big hospitals and nursing homes offer the students of our college the chance to intern at their organization with a fixed monthly stipend.

The institute provides several scholarships to the students for their welfare. Sri Ramakrishna Hegde scholarship is awarded to the GM students and the Sri Devaraj Urs scholarship is for OBC students. The total amount of scholarships awarded is around 28,00,000. Students can also apply for scholarships and financial assistance from the Karnataka government.

Library
The University Library is a unique information resource center of the Academy it provides all the aspects subjects of Health Science, allied health and basic sciences. It spread over 3642 Sq. mtrs and accommodate 700 users at a time. It has state-of-the-art, Wi-Fi facilities to browse and access the resources

Library Rules
All the library users (students & staff) should display the Membership Identity Card to the scanner system kept at the entrance of the library every time they visit.
Bags, Briefcases, Handbags, Parcels, Aprons are not allowed inside the library premises. Such items may be left at the property counter provided in the library.
Users are advised not to keep their valuable things in the property counter. The library accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of any articles so left.
Books, Journals, etc. taken from the shelves for reading should be left on the tables after the use and ‘not’ to be replaced on the shelves.
All users leaving the library must show all books, folders, papers, etc. in their possession at the security counter.
All books/journals and other library materials are to be used with care.
Engaging in conversation and creating any noise inside the Library is strictly prohibited.
The library is closely monitored by closed circuit camera & TV.
The Library equipment, furniture and fittings should not be mitigated.
