Sri Sarada College of Education was established in the year 1968-69 by the dynamic effort of Mrs.Seetha Lakshmi Ramaswamy (Yatiswari Sarada Priya) under the presidentship of Srimath Swami Chidbhavananda of Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam, Tirupparaithurai. With the aim of moulding the future teachers with intellectual, moral and spiritual values, Sri Sarada College Educational Trust, Salem propels the institution in the promising path. The founder President Swami Chidbhavananaji and the founder Secretary Yatiswari Saradapriya formed the highest ideal and noble values of the Holy Trinity Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda as the guiding principles of the College.
Sri Sarada College of Education, Salem was started with the aim to provide more trained women teachers for the several new High Schools in the State and meet the shortage of trained teacher personnel. This college is striving her best for the intellectual, spiritual, moral and cultural advancement of the country in general and Tamil Nadu in particular. It hopes to train teachers who will imbibe the culture and spiritual treasures of the land, so that they may become masters of themselves and servants of mankind. The college offers courses leading to B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Education. It is housed in its own multi-storeyed building with adequate infrastructure.
Sri Sarada College of Education is a Government aided college and it was affiliated to the University of Madras from its inception to 1998. Autonomy status was conferred in the year 1988-89. It was an affiliated college of Periyar University from 1998-2008. Since 2008, Sri Sarada College of Education has been affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai.

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the course leading to the Degree of Master of Education provided she had passed a Bachelor Degree Examination in Education of this University or some other University recognized by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 50% marks in theory and practical separately.
As per the guidelines for admission to B.Ed course of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai, 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of study is required to be followed.
Further B.Com and B.A (Economics) is not eligible degree for admission to B.Ed., degree course. Hence B.Com.Ed., and B.A.Ed., cannot be recognized undergraduate course in Education. Therefore B.Com.Ed., are not eligible for admission to M.Ed course.
The basis of selection of candidate for admission shall be based on the existing regulations of the university/Government of Tamil Nadu. Reservation of seats and other concessions for the SC., ST., MBC / DNC, BC, and other special categories of candidates notified by the Government of Tamil Nadu shall be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Government of Tamil Nadu in force from time to time.
No candidate shall be eligible for the Degree of M.Ed. unless she has completed the prescribed course of study and has passed the qualifying examination and has satisfied the Examiners in a dissertation.
Placements: 79% students got placed from my course. In my college, the highest package is 7 Lacs per Annum and the lowest package is 3 Lacs. Recruiting companies from my course are ITC, TAJ FALAKNUMA PALACE, and MARRIOTT. Around 70 percent students got internships in Marriott companies.

student-teachers have access to them throughout the year.
▪ Newspaper Clippings: The librarian goes through the newspapers and collects relevant news items related to education, employment
opportunities, socio-cultural issues, current issues, etc. and displays them on the notice board. It is also documented systematically.
▪ E-Resources: In the library 5 computers are available for the student-teachers to access electronic resources such as N-List Consortium.
▪ Internet Service: Terminals available for the users to browse the internet through 100 Mbps broadband connectivity and also Wi-Fi facility
is available for the library users.
Special libraries
Special libraries for distinguished for special collections, rare books, manuscripts, and materials such as Braille books and similar material. There are
about 200 Braille books, necessary accessories like stylus, JAWS, Braille typewriter etc. for the use of visually impaired students teachers.
