1. Government Quota (85% of sanctioned intake) :
- (1) The intake of students for the B.Tech programmes will be based on the rank list prepared by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE), appointed by the Government of Kerala. The rank list is published considering the results of the KEAM and marks of the Higher Secondary Examination in 1:1 proportion. Based on the options regarding institution and programme exercised by the eligible candidates, the CEE allocates students to the institution, following various reservation norms constituted by the Government of Kerala.
- (2) The intake of students for the B.Arch programme is based on the rank list prepared by the CEE, considering the results of National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and marks of the Higher Secondary Examination. Based on the options regarding institution and programme exercised by the eligible candidates, the CEE allocates students to the institution, following various reservation norms constituted by the Government of Kerala.
- (3) The intake of students for PG programmes in engineering and MCA are also done through the single window system of the Centralized Allotment Process under Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), as per Government norms.
2. Management Quota (15% of the sanctioned intake) :
Selection to this category is done by the TKM College Trust from among the applicants declared eligible for admission by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala.
3. Government of India Quota :
Number of seats for this category is prescribed by the CEE, Kerala and allotment is done by the Director of Technical Education, Government of Kerala. This category includes students from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and so on.
4. Other seats include 15% over and above the sanctioned intake of students :
- (I) Children of Indian workers in Gulf countries
- (II) People of Indian origin
- (II) Foreign students
5. Fees to be Charged :
Government and University Fees as per the Government/University Order.
6. Reservation :
Allotment of students are made by the Office of the Commisioner of Entrance Examinations, Kerala in compliance with Government Rules.
7. Documentations :
Documents/Cerificates from students are kept in college only upto the completetion of verification by the University and not retained thereafter.
Placement
Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) has played a vital role in ensuring the career development and campus recruitment of the students graduating from TKMCE. With a close watch on the changing employment scenario, the Unit has always guided students in their career options and facilitated recruitment drives of prestigious companies.
CGPU operates on a three-tier system, the upper most being the Advisory Council, comprising of a member of the TKM Trust, Principal, and Head of CGPU. The second tier which is the Core team consists of the Head of CGPU, Heads of All departments, Placement Officers and Placement Manager. The third tier comprises of Sr.Advisors and student representatives of final year from all branches.
CGPU is well equipped to conduct training and placement drives in the campus. The facilities include four air-conditioned halls of a total seating capacity of around 1400, four computing facilities with cumulative capacity of around 300 computers and fifteen cabins to conduct interviews and group discussions.
The major employers are invited to conduct seminars and workshops on Career Development every year. Students are also enlightened about the changing market and employability demands through orientation sessions. CGPU provides compulsory training in Personality Development, CV Writing, Communication Skills, Aptitude tests, Interview Technique etc. to all students. The training programmes are framed based on the Training Need Analysis (TNA) conducted in advance. These programmes are carried out with the support of competent external as well as in house experts. Workshop for students, Faculty Development Programmes and Internship for students in industries help the institution to keep abreast of technological advancements and strengthen its ties with industries. Many of the top companies in India abroad visit the campus for recruitment. Recruitment drive is also conducted by the Armed Forces of India. The most recent unique achievements of TKMCE include :
- We are the only engineering college in the state of Kerala credited with the top-ranking status of "6-year accreditation" by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), awarded to B. Tech Mechanical and Civil Engineering programmes and 3 years for other UG Programmes.
- TKMCE is the only engineering college among the Government and the aided sector to obtain A-grade accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
- Adjudged as the Institution with AAA grade NPTEL (National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning) the local centre organized by IITs and IISc.
- One of the few Engineering colleges under the APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University (KTU) for awarding the B.Tech. (Hons) programmes.
- One of the 4 selected institutions in the state chosen by the Government of India for the National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) for carrying out Ph.D. programmes.
Library
A fully automated modern Library & Information Centre (LIC), established with the inception of the college in 1958 is on its way to becoming an outstanding learning resource centre catering to the ever growing and uncompromising information and intellectual requirements of the students, faculty and researchers. A balanced program on the development of the collection of hard copy, audio/video, CD-ROM and other electronic forms of documents is being followed. The LIC has one of the finest collections of latest Engineering and management publications. It plays an important role in the provision of information to the academic community in the TKM College of Engineering. It has a collection of more than seventy five thousand books and subscribes to more than one hundred periodical and 10 Newspapers. Library follows the Anglo American cataloguing Rules II (with slight modifications) for Cataloguing and Dewey Decimal Scheme of Classification for the classification of books. Owing to the developments in IT/Internet and the recent upsurge of Digital Information resources/services, there is a heavy demand from the users of digital Library Services. With a view to address the above, TKMCE has launched a digital library where the academic community can approach for satisfying their knowledge requirements
Hostel
T K M College of Engineering offers ample hostel facilities for the students. Since an ideal hostel must be, in essence, a home away from home, the facilities offered here are designed to provide a sense of belonging, security and care as well as a spirit of independence, within reasonable limits.
There are separate hostels for boys and girls.Altogether, these hostels provide accommodation around to 2000 students. As regards the Administrative structure, the Principal of the college is the Chief Warden of the hostels. There is a Hostel Co-ordinator (Deputy Chief Warden), three facility co-ordinators for all hostels under the Trust. In addition, each hostel has a Warden, Deputy Wardens and Resident Tutors, who are senior faculties of the college.Foreign students are given accommodation in International Students’ Hostel, the facility of which are, at par with international standards. The hostels provide a calm and relaxing atmosphere to accelerate the creative talents of the students. The faculties who act as resident wardens of the hostels provide moral and emotional support and guidance to the inmates.
Transportation
The college provides efficient transport facilities to a number of cities and towns nearby. Around 15 buses are arranged for the comfortable transportation of both staff and students to multiple routes. All the buses reach the campus on or before 8:50 am and leaves by 4:25 pm every day. Students are to keep their bus cards/ ID cards on them every day and are liable to produce them anytime at the request of the bus coordinator.
