 Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), Madurai,  founded by Late. Shri. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar was established in 1957.  TCE is one of several educational institutions founded by the late philanthropist and educationist, Kalaithanthai Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, who was a great visionary with a mission of transforming lives through education. He was bestowed with the moral and social responsibility of building up this institution with an objective of serving the society. A staunch nationalist and a great industrialist, he led a life of sacrifice.  As an exceptional social savant, he left his footprints in the sands of time in all facets of his social life. Being a discrete reader, his passion for language was evident as he possessed a great command over the language of Tamil. Kalaithanthai Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar was a holistic personality with spiritual aura and soul.

  Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) is a Government-aided institution located in Thiruparankundram, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. TCE was established under the University of Madras and was granted autonomy in the year 1987.  It has been approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC.  Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, holding A+ grade and a CGPA of 3.47 (out of 4.00), is a 63 years old private college having an ISO-certified institution affiliation to Anna University.

  Thiagajar College of Engineering  campus is located 10 km from the Madurai Airport, 8 km from the Madurai Railway station and 2 km from Thirupparankundram railway station and is well connected by buses with all parts of state.  Spread across 143 acres, TCE is a self sustained educational institute with nearly 219 Faculty members, 4300 students and 200 administrative and supporting staff. The campus is set within a serene and eco-friendly environment surrounded by dense vegetation and best infrastructure facilities. More than 60% of the faculty members hold doctoral degrees from reputed national and international Institutions.

  The courses offered in TCE are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. It has been approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC.  TCE offers 9 undergraduate, 9 postgraduate programs and research programs (MS and PhD) in all Engineering and Science streams. and Architecture.  The institution has fifteen academic departments, five nodal research centers, Incubation center and more than fifty laboratories aiding hands-on learning of products and system building. Each course is designed to have balance depth of conceptual and Technical knowledge along with practical understanding.  The  criteria for admisssion for all of the undergraduate courses, post graduate and  doctoral programs is authored by Anna University with the candidates’ performance in 10+2 or 10+2+3 (whichever is applicable regarding the respective course being taken by the candidate).

  TCE was ranked 85 among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2022 and 151–200 band overall

B.E / B.Tech Degree Admission

 Admission to all undergraduate courses ie. Bachelors in Engineering (B.E)/  Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) are carried out through the single window system of the Anna University. Students can choose the courses based upon the state-wise rank calculated by their marks in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of TamilNadu.

 Reservations are provided for BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST etc as per the rules of the Government of TamilNadu.

 Reservations are also provided for Physically handicapped / Ex-Service men / Sports persons / Other state candidates.
