All India Law Entrance Test is the national-level Law Exam that is conducted by the National Law University in Delhi. It is mandatory for students to appear for this exam if they are thinking of studying Law at National Law University, Delhi.

Eligibility

For the UG program, candidates need a 10+2 qualification with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). For the PG program, an LLB degree with 50% marks is required.

Syllabus

The university has released the all India law entrance test (AILET) syllabus which covers three topics as mentioned above. A total of 150 multiple-choice type questions will be asked in AILET BA LLB 2024. These questions will be based on comprehension passages. While each question carries one mark, a negative marking of 0.25 will be applicable for each incorrect answer.

In recent years, AILET question papers were very lengthy as a result, students faced difficulty in completing the test paper within 90 minutes. While the subjects under AILET BA LLB syllabus are unchanged, the university has given extra 30 minutes to complete the test paper. Similar to CLAT exam, AILET will also be a 120-minute duration test.

In the logical reasoning section, there will be usage of legal principles to test the logical aptitude of the students though any additional or technical knowledge is not required for the exam.

The university has changed the AILET LLM syllabus significantly. Earlier, there were sections on English, Legal reasoning in addition to two descriptive-type questions on subjects of law. However, this year, there will be only 100 objective-type questions and no descriptive-type questions. Further, there will be no separate section on the English language. According to the AILET logical reasoning syllabus, there will be total 70 questions in this section.

Under the new AILET LLM syllabus 2024, all questions will be asked from different branches of Law. These will be the common subjects that students generally study during LLB degree courses. With this, the ailet entrance exam syllabus is now very much similar to the CLAT LLM syllabus. Each question carries one mark, meaning the maximum marks in AILET LLM will be 100 instead of 150 under the old pattern.
