Training & Placement


Training & Placement department helps preparing graduates and passed out students in finding suitable jobs in reputed organizations. This cell works out placement strategies based on current as well as further job markets and takes into account the emerging job profile so that these may provide upward mobility in the career-graphs of our students. Invitations are sent to the prospective companies / organizations along with all relevant information to participate in the campus recruitment.

Regular correspondence is maintained with various industries. Personal visits by the Training and Placement Officer, to many companies also serves to build and maintain relations with the companies. The cell maintains a branch -wise list of industries and encourages students to approach the companies independently in case that particular company does not have a policy of Campus Recruitment.

The cell maintains a branch-wise record of all current appearing students in the Final Year through the collection of their resumes. Based on the requirements prescribed by the company, the eligible candidates are invited for appearing for the test / interviews that are conducted by the visiting companies. The T & P also maintains a list of past students and passes this list to companies who specifically come for pass-out students.

The T & P cell looks after all arrangements to be made for the purpose of conducting campus interviews including everything from, the Pre-Placement Talk, to the written tests, to the final interviews The Training and Placement Cell firmly believes in taking feedback from the companies that have visited since the feedback from the company serves as a yardstick regarding the performance of the students.

This helps the Training and Placement Cell in concentrating on various areas for improvement in the students. We believe that our students are like 'uncut diamonds' that need to be guided in the right direction to acquire their lustre.


Campus Recruitment Process

Requirements of a company are received by Training & Placement Cell (T & PC) for campus recruitment. The circular is sent to department heads and students about the recruitment. The department shortlists the candidates and send the same to the T & PC. The list of students will be forwarded to the recruiting company.


Off Campus Recruitment

The T & PC will shortlist the students from the database matching the company requirements and sends the list to recruiting company or institution for further action.

The placement cell of the Navarasam Arts and Science College was started with the clear stated vision and mission on 08.06.05 under the direct supervision of the placement officer Dr.V.Sugumar, Head, Department of management with five active members. The Placement Cell was inaugurated by Mr.I.Selvam, Vice Principal, Navarasam Arts and Science College for Women. The Coaching and Training Classes are conducted every Saturday in the college Auditorium Or Conference Hall. Two Training Program, one Awareness Program, One IAS Coaching and One TNPSC Coaching Classes were conducted for the upliftment of the students with respective efficient Resource Persons.

In the academic year 2012 – 2013 various companies were invited To participate in the campus interview to be conducted to hire efficient working people to add laurels for their company. 35 students were placed through on-campus mode in various companies viz, Infosys, Bangalore, Enrich Academy, Coimbatore, Hicitizen Life Skills, Perundurai and RFF Infra Project, Erode. 7 students were paced through off-campus mode. A sum of 42 students was placed in this academic year.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2017-2018

The placement cell was still under the direct supervision and effective functioning of Dr.V.Sugumar with dynamic members.The Coaching and Training Classes are conducted every Saturday in the college Auditorium Or Conference Hall. A total of 155 students got placed. 88 students got selected through on-campus interview.67 students got placed through off-campus interview.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT & PLACEMENT CELL
The Skill Development and placement cell activities are administered by assessing the caliber of the students and by matching with their desire and strengths. The students are given a clear picture about the Job market, job opportunities in various sectors. This activity focuses on building an effective career of the students by developing the skill sets for getting success in that particular career. The influence of personality upon the functional efficiency of a student its impact in building her career is well understood and hence the Cell organizes periodic personality development programs.

It assists the students to specifically design themselves and to cater to the demands of corporate world. Mentoring is designed to help students to achieve academic excellence by monitoring them closely and by establishing homely environment. It also includes managing stress, improving communication skills, developing confidence, exploring themselves, identification of values, resolving a personal problem interests and personal strengths needed for decision-making.

The placement officer with the placement coordinator representing each department has a regular personality development programme for I year students II year students on Career guidance and Leadership Programs and PG and III year students on Group discussion, Personal Interview, Resume preparation, Employability skills, Corporate Expectations, Personal Grooming and Etiquettes.

Training and placement cell regularly conducting sessions on Positive attitude, Self-Confidence, Inter personal skills, Team building, Aptitude test preparation, Goal setting, Public Speaking, Group discussion, Frequently asked questions in Interview, Resume preparation, Corporate Expectation, Employability skills, Mock interview, Mock Group discussion., etc. were taught by placement officer.

RGNIYD Placement Cell
Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur has established the placement cell during March 2010. The major objective of the cell is to facilitate and assist the students in placement. The placement cell is responsible for

Maintaining regular data base of prospective agencies and firms where RGNIYD student can be placed appropriately.
Development of Personality besides team building and career counselling.
Assist the students with placement trainings.
Preparing placement brochures for each batch and circulating it among the prospective recruiters and placing the same online also.

Institute helps each student in exploring placement opportunities by inviting various companies for campus recruitment of students who are in the final year of the programme and are likely to graduate at the end of the academic year. The placement activity is primarily manged by the placement committee headed by one of the senior faculties of the institute as Chairperson/ Coordinator, other committee members which includes faculties and students from all the academic departments of RGNIYD. The placement committee is constituted usually in the month of August/September. The activities so far as follows;

Preparation of placement brochure for the final placement of various batches of students.
Career assessment by the experts
Communication, networking and relationship building with prospective agencies and firms( revising the data base)
So far organised 6 pre-placement trainings (15 days each) programmes all the students from 2010-2017.
Developed pre-placement training schedule comprising, career counselling, life skills, Gender sensitization, Project Management etc.
Special resume writing workshops for all the batches
Campus interviews started from 2012 onwards. So far 9 campus interviews conducted.
Maintaining the record of placed students

The Institute prepares a Placement Brochure, giving details of the students ready to be placed for the benefit of the students and potential recruiters. This brochure is subsequently shared with potential recruiters and placed in the RGNIYD website. The students registered for placement or completed 15 days pre-placement training is included in this brochure. Moreover the social media platforms like Face Book, twitter and online recruiters coordinated by student groups as well as RGNIYD is being utilized appropriately to disseminate the profile of the students.

The Placement Cell has evolved a pre-placement training schedule comprising of career counselling, life skills, Gender sensitization, Project Management etc. To supplement the students with communication skills special communicative English classes are organised frequently (paid course) all the fourth-semester students undergo two-day resume writing workshop to horn their skills in CV preparation.

The placement cell of Madurai Kamaraj University Evening College,Periyakulam, is responsible for facilitating the placement process and connecting students with employment opportunities. The MKU placement cell invites reputed companies like Bajaj Capital, Reliance, Canon, HCL, ICICI Bank, TAFE, and L&T Finance Home Loans to participate in the placement and internship drives. To prepare students for placements, the placement cell of MKU conducts various training programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and interactions with industry experts, thereby keeping them updated on current industry trends.

 

In the Madurai Kamaraj University Evening College placements of 2022, a total of 236 PG students and 7 integrated PG students were successfully placed. The median package offered to 2-year PG students was Rs. 2.15 Lakh Per Annum, while for 3-year PG students, it was Rs. 2.88 Lakh Per Annum, and for Integrated PG courses, the median package offered was Rs. 1.44 Lakh Per Annum. Gondwana University Placements :

Gondwana University offers excellent placement assistance to its students. Through its placement process, around 70% of the students got placed. The placement cell assists students to secure jobs even before completing the course. Top companies visit the university for recruitment. The recruiting companies include Infosys, Mahindra, IBM, Cognizant, Wipro, etc. The highest salary package offered during the placement is INR 10 LPA and the average package of INR 4 LPA. Internships are also provided to the students. They can do internships in companies like ACC cement, ICICI, Axis, etc. They can receive internships in sectors such as sales, marketing, etc. During the internship period, they will get a stipend amount which is between 25,000 and 10,000 per month.

There is a structured mechanism for Career  Guidance  and  Placement of Students. The College Placement Cell identifies job opportunities via mail, WhatsApp, and social media, and communicates them to students. In addition, Departments invite experts from industry to provide career guidance. Soft skills training programmes for students are conducted to prepare them for interviews; these include guidance on group discussions, and writing résumés.
Our Students are placed at reputable National and International companies such as TCS, L&T, Datamatics, ICICI Prudential, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Capital, MotilalOswal, Cap Gemini, Accenture,INFOSYS, Nokia, iGate, Sutherland Global Services, and Morgan Stanley.



 

 The College Career Guidance and Placement Cell conducted a number of activities for Students in 2018-19. 

The following is a brief report:

  • A Lecture and Interactive Session on “Urban Governance”: A Lecture and Interactive Session on “Urban Governance” was organized on July 18, 2018, in association with PRAJA, a Mumbai-based non-partisan voluntary organisation that works towards accountable governance.

The main goal of PRAJA is to elicit participation from the people in the government’s decision-making processes so that accountability can be established in the system. With this view, they offer a fellowship programme to students, who, if selected, get paid Rs. 10,000/- per month. Students had a number of questions, which were patiently answered by the associates from PRAJA.

Ms. Disha Sawant was selected as a fellow under this programme and was offered a stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month.

  • Lectures focusing on Career Guidance for Arts and Commerce Students:

  1. MBA: On January 14, 2019, in association with the Department of English, a lecture on “MBA as a Career Option” was organised. The speaker was Prof. Niteesh Srivastava from ITM Group of Institutions. More than 80 students from across the faculties attended the lecture and participated in the interactive session that followed.

  2. LAW: On January 14, 2019, in association with the Department of Economics a lecture on “LAW as a Career Option” was organised. The speaker was Prof. Pramila Dhiman from KES Law College. More than 80 students from across the faculties attended the lecture and participated in the interactive session that followed.

  3. STOCK MARKET: On January 21, 2019, in association with the Department of Accountancy, a lecture on “Stock Market” was organised. The resource person was Mr. Kalpesh Kanase from ICOFP – A Bajaj Capital Group Company. More than 100 students benefited from it.

  • Lectures focusing on Soft Skills

  1. A workshop on “Use of Computers in Day-to-day Life” was organised in association with the College ICT Committee on February 13, 2019. This workshop was conducted by experts from Microsoft Corporation under their initiative “Computer se Karo, Computer se Badho”. Students were also given information about a number of free courses and self-learning videos by Microsoft, that would help them use MS Office effectively. More than 100 Students participated in this workshop.

An interactive session on “CV Writing and Interview Etiquette” for TYBSc Students was organized on February 15, 2019. Prof. Ulhas Karkhanis, Associate Dean, IES Management College & Research Centre was the speaker at the session, which was attended by 60 Students.

Various notices regarding internships, and articleships were displayed on the Placement Cell noticeboard.
