BITS Pilani Introduces 5-Year BE-MBA Dual Programme and New BE in Pharmaceutical Engineering: Admissions will be conducted through BITSAT via the Direct Mode, along with a Vertical Transfer pathway for students currently enrolled in B.E. programmes at BITS Pilani.

Beginning from the academic session 2026–27, BITS Pilani will roll out a 5-Year (3+2) Intercampus Dual Degree Programme in partnership with BITS School of Management, Mumbai, along with a Bachelor of Engineering in Pharmaceutical Engineering. According to the institute’s official press release, these newly introduced programmes are designed to meet the changing demands of careers that blend technology, business, and life sciences.

The 5-Year Intercampus Dual Degree Programme merges the core strengths of engineering at BITS Pilani with management education at BITSoM. Students will complete the first three years of their B.E. degree at Pilani, Goa, or Hyderabad campuses, followed by two years at BITSoM in Mumbai to pursue a full-time MBA.

After successfully finishing the programme, students will earn both a B.E. and an MBA degree.

This course is structured to give students early exposure to management concepts, industry insights, and practical problem-solving, while also developing a solid foundation in engineering. Moreover, it reduces the total study duration by one year compared to the conventional route of completing a B.E. followed by an MBA separately.

Admissions will be granted through BITSAT under Direct Mode and also via a Vertical Transfer option for students already pursuing B.E. programmes at BITS Pilani.

Those who achieve a minimum CGPA of 7.0 by the end of their second year can directly move to the MBA phase without the requirement of CAT, GRE, or GMAT scores. However, candidates applying through Vertical Transfer will need to go through an additional selection process.

BE in Pharmaceutical Engineering

In addition, BITS Pilani is also introducing a Bachelor of Engineering programme in Pharmaceutical Engineering, aimed at fulfilling the rising demand for professionals who can connect engineering with advanced drug development processes. This course is designed to prepare students for careers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, where accuracy, scalability, and innovation play a key role.

The programme curriculum blends fundamental engineering concepts with pharmaceutical sciences, including subjects such as drug formulation, bioprocess engineering, regulatory science, and computational modelling. It will also focus on emerging areas like artificial intelligence and machine learning in drug discovery, biologics and gene therapies, along with Industry 4.0-based manufacturing systems.

Students will gain exposure to advanced digital technologies that are transforming healthcare, including digital twins, AR and VR-enabled labs, IoT-based systems, and healthcare data science. The institute further noted that opportunities like international internships, student exchange programmes, and startup incubation will add significant value to the overall learning experience.

Sharing his views on the launch, V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, stated, “At BITS Pilani, we are committed to shaping academic pathways that anticipate the future and empower students to lead it. These new programmes reflect our vision of integrating deep technical education with emerging fields and management excellence, ensuring that our graduates are prepared not just for today’s opportunities but for the innovations that will define tomorrow."
