Bihar Government Announces 100% Fee Coverage for SC/ST Students Enrolled in IITs, NITs, AIIMS, NIFT and CIMP: The Bihar government has declared a major financial relief initiative by approving full fee reimbursement for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students studying in reputed central and state-run institutions such as IIT, NIT, AIIMS, NIFT and CIMP. Read the complete details below.

The Bihar government has officially announced that it will bear the entire education fee of SC and ST students enrolled in leading Central and State educational institutions. This announcement was made by SC and ST Welfare Department Minister Lakhendra Kumar Roshan during a press briefing held at Samvad in Soochna Bhawan. He stated that the proposal was part of the cabinet agenda and was approved in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

As per the revised Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, the scholarship amount has been enhanced for students pursuing studies in prestigious institutions including IITs, NITs, AIIMS, NIFT, and the Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP). Under the new decision, the Bihar government will now pay the full fee amount for SC and ST students studying in both Central and State institutions, without imposing any upper limit on the fee.

Previously, the state government provided financial assistance ranging from INR 70,000 to INR 90,000 per year to SC and ST students pursuing higher education. In addition to this, the scholarship amounts for students studying in non-government institutions such as ITIs, Diploma and Polytechnic colleges, and other professional courses have also been increased.

Under the revised structure, students enrolled in ITI courses will now receive financial assistance of up to INR 7,500 per year, compared to the earlier INR 5,000. Students pursuing ITI, Diploma, Polytechnic and similar technical courses will be eligible for INR 15,000 per year, which has been raised from INR 10,000. Meanwhile, students studying in other professional courses will now receive INR 25,000 per year instead of the earlier INR 15,000. This revised amount includes tuition fees along with all other associated charges.
