The Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras has officially launched the registration process for admission to the MBA programme, allowing eligible candidates to submit their applications up to January 31, 2026.
Established in 2004, the Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras oversees the highly regarded MBA programme that has been offered since August 2001. Notably, in 2013, IIT Madras became the first IIT to admit students from non-engineering academic backgrounds.
Apart from the MBA programme, DoMS also offers Master of Science (MS) and PhD research programmes, along with an Executive MBA designed for mid-level and senior professionals.

Only applicants shortlisted by DoMS, IIT Madras, will be invited to participate in the subsequent selection stages.
While submitting the MBA application to DoMS, IIT Madras, candidates must upload scanned copies of the following mandatory documents:
- Candidate’s signature (JPG format)
- Recent passport-size photograph (JPG format)
- CAT scorecard for Indian nationals / GMAT scorecard for foreign nationals (PDF format)
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued after March 31, 2025
- EWS certificate issued after March 31, 2025
- SC/ST certificate
- PwD certificate
- Citizenship certificate
- CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate
- Consolidated grade sheet (for IIT graduates without CAT score having CGPA of 8.0 or above on a 10-point scale)

Eligibility Criteria for MBA Admission at IIT Madras
The two-year, full-time MBA programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is designed to develop capable management professionals by offering strong grounding in management concepts along with practical exposure.
The MBA curriculum at IIT Madras is structured into four quarters during the first year and three quarters in the second year. Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility conditions to be considered for admission:
- Only candidates who have qualified the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 are eligible to apply for the MBA programme at IIT Madras.
- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks for the General category and 55% marks for SC, ST, and PwD categories from a recognised university.
- Final-year students of the qualifying degree programme may also apply. If selected, such candidates will receive provisional admission, subject to meeting all degree requirements before the commencement of the MBA programme.
- Foreign nationals possessing a valid GMAT score are also eligible to apply for the MBA programme.
