Declaration Must Be Made According to Government-Approved OBC Categories
WBJEEB has instructed candidates to carefully select their OBC Class strictly in accordance with the officially notified categories issued by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.
Only those candidates whose category falls under the approved government list will be considered eligible to receive reservation benefits during admission. Candidates are advised to verify their category details before completing the declaration process to avoid discrepancies later.
Original OBC Certificate Compulsory During Counselling and Admission
The Board has clearly stated that candidates claiming reservation under the OBC category must produce the original OBC Certificate during:
- Counselling process
- Admission formalities
- Document verification
The certificate submitted must be issued in the prescribed and accepted format.
Failure to produce the original certificate at any stage of counselling or verification will result in the candidate losing the claimed reservation advantage.
No Reservation Benefit Without Valid Documentation
WBJEEB has emphasized that merely declaring an OBC category online will not automatically guarantee reservation eligibility. Verification of original documents remains mandatory.
If a candidate is unable to provide the required certificate at the time of verification, the Board will process the candidature according to the applicable admission rules and non-reserved eligibility criteria.

The reservation process for OBC candidates will be implemented in accordance with Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) rules and applicable government regulations. Candidates are advised to ensure that their certificates satisfy all applicable conditions before counselling begins.
