Under the new instructions, all eligible trainees must promptly update their joining status on the OPJR portal within the stipulated timeframe. The Board has emphasised strict verification of submitted details and warned that false or incomplete documentation could attract punitive action in line with existing accreditation rules.
OPJR Process: Steps for Trainees and Hospitals
The NBEMS notification outlines a structured process to ensure smooth completion of joining formalities:
1. Completion of Joining Formalities:
Trainees must log into the OPJR portal and complete online joining procedures
within the stipulated timeline.
2. Uploading of Annexure-A (Joining Report):
Once the candidate completes their part, the hospital must upload the Annexure-A
Joining Report on the portal.
3. Submission of Self-Appraisal Form:
After joining details are recorded, candidates must fill and submit their self-appraisal
form confirming their admission details and eligibility.
4. Hospital Verification:
The concerned hospital is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the
self-appraisal and accompanying documents before final approval.
NBEMS clarifies that this self-appraisal is a crucial component for assessing eligibility for trainee registration. Accredited hospitals must meticulously check all original documents, especially for candidates from reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS), ensuring compliance with MCC guidelines.
Deadlines and Important Dates
NBEMS has announced the following critical dates for the 2025 DNB admissions cycle:
- OPJR Portal Activation: March 09, 2026
- Last Date for Trainees to Complete Joining and Self-Appraisal: April 09, 2026
- Deadline for Hospital Verification: April 30, 2026
Candidates are reminded to join training within the reporting window of their respective counselling round. Accredited hospitals are not permitted to extend joining dates without prior approval from NBEMS.
For candidates admitted under in-service quotas, training will officially commence only after the candidate has been formally relieved from their parent organisation. Any training undertaken before this formal relief will be deemed invalid.
Provisional Registration and Eligibility Clarifications
After successful online submission and hospital verification, NBEMS will issue a Letter of Provisional Registration. However, the Board emphasises that this registration is strictly provisional and does not guarantee eligibility to appear in the Final Exit Examination or confer the award of the DNB diploma or degree.
The provisional nature of the registration underscores the significance of thorough document checks and adherence to all eligibility requirements specified in the detailed information bulletin. Any inconsistency in the documents or self-appraisal form could potentially lead to cancellation of candidature.
Guidance for Candidates
NBEMS has strongly advised all trainees to carefully review the OPJR guidelines and ensure they understand the eligibility criteria before submitting their documentation. This proactive approach will help avoid last-minute complications and ensure compliance with the Board’s admission policies.
