Akshaya Institute of Technology located in Tumkur, one of the popular Engineering Colleges in Karnataka was founded in the year by Dr. K.S. Shivakumar the Chairman of the Institute who is a renowned Paediatrician known for his simplicity, vision and entrepreneurship.  The institute is financed and managed under Akshaya Education Trust which was established in 2003 with the vision to impart quality education to all sections of society and supplement the needs of the aspiring individuals.  

 
AIT which was established with the blessing of Dr. Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddagang Mutt, is dedicated to providing quality Technical Education and focuses on character building and ethical, moral and spiritual values.  Tumkur is being considered for Smart City Development Program and has a huge Industrial Township and Food Park which is generating great job opportunities in multifaceted areas.  Due to which Akshaya Institute of Technology has gained great momentum to establish itself as one of the reputed institutions in the country and is offering Technical Education in various branches of Engineering.

 
The AIT campus is spread over 25 acres of land with wide spread buildings and lush green open space. It is located in Lingapura, Tumkur Koratgere Road, Tumakuru, Karnataka.  Akshaya Institute of Technology is situated in a place surrounded by various attractions like Shivgange Hills, Devrayandurga Hills, Sri Krishna Theatre, Camp Linger, and many such serene views place to visit during one’s spare time.

 
Akshaya Institute of Technology is recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.  The institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi.

 
Akshaya Institute of Technology offers under graduate (UG)  BE Degree Program in 7 thrust areas of Engineering; Agri Engg, Civil, CS, IS, ECE, Mechanical, Smart Agritech.  The admission to BE/ BTech programs is done on the basis of KCET/COMEDK entrance exams.

TRAINING AND PLACEMENT
Our Training and Placement Department is headed by Prof Mr. Dinesh a dynamic personality with rich experience in Industry and Training & Placement. He has worked in reputed Industries and also in reputed Institutes. Our Training program is very unique. Students are trained in employability skills right from the beginning of first year of Engineering. Students are Industry ready when they leave our Institute after their graduation. They are exposed to the latest technologies through Industry partnerships. Students are well trained in Technology required by the Industries, Aptitude skills, Communication skills and Soft skills as per Industry standards. English Language Training program is arranged right from first semester onwards. A study center for Japanese Language Training and Certification is also being started from this academic year.

Most of our students are placed when they are in their final year of Engineering. Also the Training and Placement Department assists the students in their career planning. Many seminars on higher studies including study abroad are being arranged. Guidance on GATE examination, Workshops on latest technologies are being arranged. Students are assisted to do project internships in Industries.

Our motto is to Place the students in the companies of their choice. The right job in the right company. We have placed more than 80% students during this academic year. Our objective is to achieve 100% placement through academic excellence and training on employability skills as per Industry standards.

Our students are working in many reputed industries and performing extremely well in their companies. We are helping our students to develop entrepreneurial spirit in them during their stay in our Institute. We have established Pre-Incubation centre in our Institute to help our students to do innovation which finally leads to entrepreneurship. Pre-Incubation Centre gives all the guidance required to set up a start-up by our students. Many funded projects are taken up by our students.

Placement department takes the responsibility of counseling students and parents during their admission to our Institute and also in shaping their personality to make them perfect engineers of future.

We have a dedicated and committed team of faculties in the Training and Placement department under the efficient leadership of Training and Placement Head. A separate HRD block with 300 seating capacity auditorium, 4 Training Rooms, 04 GD rooms, 05 interview rooms and control room is dedicated for the placement activities. A dedicated computer lab with 60 systems connected in single LAN to conduct on –line assessments and corporate related aptitude tests is also available for the placement related activities.

College do not provide any kind of scholarship. We can avail scholarship facilities provided by various trust,Institute and state and Central Government. Student who wish to take loan can apply to various banks providing it.

Library

Library, the treasure house of information is the nerve center of intellectual activity of any institution. Library and information center is located in an independent spacious block with area of 587 sqm, at present library has 6559 volumes, 1468 Titles and reference books, periodicals, reports and standard specifications. 8 National and 4 International journals are also subscribed.

Separate Reading Room and News paper section provided in the library. The Library has a separate Internet Browsing Center with 25 nodes that interconnected and provided with 100 Mbps connectivity.

Hostel
Each student is provided with a wardrobe, cot, table & chair. The students are taken care by providing daily three meals, T.V. for their entertainment in addition to sports facility. Sweet dish and special diet are provided on Saturday & Sunday. There is a movement register for the inmates which is strictly followed to monitor the student activities and as a safety measure. The hostel is guarded by 24 hrs security guard. Study hours are monitored by the faculty coordinator.

The Institute owns several buses that operate from various parts of the city to the campus for the benefit of staff and students. At present, there are 5 buses dedicated for transportation. The buses pick up students and staff from several centralized locations in the city close to many residential neighbourhoods. Students and staff are utilizing the precious commute time to discuss/debate various topics ranging from current news, academics, research and project work.
