E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College is one of the pioneering non-grant Engineering Colleges in the State. It was established by the G. S. Pillay & Sons Educational & Charitable Trust, Nagapattinam in the year 1995 with the sanction of the Government of Tamil Nadu, approval of the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliation to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. E.G.S.PEC is the vision of Chevalier. Dr.G.S.Pillay, whose determination and dynamism made possible the realization of this self – financing educational Institution of Excellence.   

E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College Campus is set in 35.76 acres of land on the Old Nagore Main Rd, Thethi village, Nagore, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

E.G.S.PEC is Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and is a UGC Recognized institution.  It is also a Recognized Research Centre for Mechanical Engineering, EEE, ECE, CSE and Civil Departments by Anna University, Chennai for doing Ph.D./M.S.(By Research).   The College is a Nodal Centre for QIC of Anna University, Chennai. It is an Associate Member of ICTACT, Govt. of Tamil Nadu for Industry-Institute Interaction. The College is Accredited by NBA, New Delhi. Autonomous status awarded by UGC and Anna University, Chennai and has an NIRF Ranking among top 200 in India in 2018.  

E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College offers various UG, PG courses like BE, BTech, ME, MCA and MBA programs.  Its courses are affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, from 2002 and the degrees are awarded by Anna University, as per the Government Orders.
