About College

The Government of Maharashtra with the aim and vision to spread Technical Education in rural and tribal areas of the state of Maharashtra founded Government College Of Engineering, Karad in 1960.The College is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and is acting as a vital education center for many years. Over the years the college has produced about 7200 engineers and more than 300 computer professionals through Master of Computer Application course which is unique in Engineering faculty under Shivaji University. Along with the degree courses in Civil,Machanical, Electrical and Information Technology, the college also offers PG programs in different specializations in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Vision of the Institute "To emerge as a Technical- Institution of National repute driven by excellence in imparting value based education and innovation in research, to face the global needs of the profession."

The campus is situated in Vidyanagar, Karad. GCEK has a green campus of about 40 acres(161874 m2). All departments & laboratories are housed on the campus. Residential accommodation for teaching & non-teaching staff of the college are available on the campus. Consciously developed, the campus has retained & increased its green cover, rich in natural flora & fauna, & provides an attraction for bird watchers.

The college provides residential facilities for both undergraduate boys and girls. Due to limited vacancies, admissions are merit-based. There are three residential buildings in the hostel campus. Boys' blocks are named B, C, D. The total capacity of boys hostels is 480. For girls, there is one block, namely, Jijau. This was constructed keeping in mind, the huge number of the college's girl-students staying outside. Its capacity is 240. Jijau is four storied, and the remaining buildings are three storied.

Admission Process

GCE Karad Admission Process

GCEK Admissions 2023: The Government College of Engineering Karad offers 5 undergraduate and 8 postgraduate courses. The GCEK admission offers various specialisations at each level. The GCEK admissions include 5 B. Tech, 7 M.Tech, and 1 M.C.A programmes. Admission to the B.Tech. programme is based on the JEE Main or MHT CET entrance exams. To gain GCEK admission to the M.Tech. programme, candidates must take the GATE entrance exams. The MAH MCA CET entrance examination is used to determine GCEK admission to the M.C.A. programme. The GCEK admissions will be based on the scores obtained in the entrance examination.

GCEK B.Tech Admission Procedure

Candidates should appear for the MHT CET/JEE Main examination.
The eligible candidates can apply by visiting the official website of the institute.

The shortlisted candidates should attend for counselling procedure.

Government College of Engineering Karad has a separate placement cell which handles the final placement activities. The GCEK placement cell organises training and grooming sessions for students. The GCEK placement cell conducts seminars, webinars, presentations, interactive sessions and many other activities to enhance the confidence and skills of the students. The top recruiters will visit the GCEK placement drive programme. The recruiter will organise pre-placement talks for the students to explain about the company. The GCEK placement cell has always been to assist students in enhancing their lives and achieving their goals.

Government College of Engineering Karad does not offer any direct scholarships to students. Students of the college can apply for scholarships offered by the central government and AICTE. AICTE Swanath Scholarship for Students	The students must be an orphan/either or both parents died due to Covid-19/ward of armed forces and central paramilitary forces martyred in action. Family income is not more than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum. Currently studying in AICTE approved institutions and courses at degree or diploma level in regular mode.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students	Passed class 10+2 level examination and obtained a minimum of 80 percentile. Must be pursuing a regular course from a recognised university.	Rs.10,000 per annum at graduation level for the first three years of college and university courses Rs. 20,000 per annum at the post-graduate level.
Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses	Secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination. GCE Karad Facilities
Government College of Engineering Karad offers many facilities to the students, faculty and staff. GCE Karad facilities include residential facilities, medical facilities, cafeteria, auditorium, and many other facilities. The college provides separate hostels for boys and girls. There are three boy’s hostels and one girl’s hostel on the campus. A separate PG hostel is available that can accommodate 50 PG students. The library of the college provides students with many academic resources to help them with their studies.
