Institute
IIIT, Pune was established as a Society in the year 2016-17 under Societies Act of 1860. In August 2017, the institute was re-created by an Act of Parliament (23 of 2017 dated 09th Aug, 2017 viz. Indian Institute of Information Technology (PPP) Act of 2017. The institute is also declared as an Institute of National Importance by the same Act.
Besides the Govt. of India the other partners in the institute are the Govt. of Maharashtra and two industry partner(s) (yet to be nominated). The initial outlay of the project was Rs.128 Crores be borne by the three stakeholders, viz., the Central Government, State Government (Maharashtra), and Industry Partners in the ratio of 50%, 35%, and 15% respectively.
Government of Maharashtra has allocated 100 acres of land in the year 2015 in Nanoli, Talegaon, Pune District for establishing IIIT Pune.
IIIT Pune is currently operating from a transit campus, near Bopdev Ghat, Kondhwa Annexe, Yewalewadi, Pune. The IIIT Pune is functioning within the Trinity Academy of Engineering College, Pune Campus. The resources, such as Hostel, Messes, Sports facilities, Canteen, etc., besides the Class rooms, Laboratories are shared with IIIT Pune.

IIIT Pune Admission Process
Students can get admission to IIIT Pune at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. All the IIIT Pune courses involve an entrance test or written test, conducted by a national authority or by the institute itself, to be cleared for admission. IIIT Pune B.Tech selection process involves qualifying for the entrance exam (JEE Main)/MHT CET, clearing the respective cutoff and applying for counselling. For IIIT M.Tech admissions, the shortlisting of candidates will be through GATE score and written examination and/or interview conducted by the respective departments. The IIIT Ph.D selection process is based on the GATE score and/or written test and/or interview conducted by the respective departments.

IIIT Pune B.Tech Admission Process
- The candidate should appear for the MHT CET/JEE Main examination and secure a valid score. Eligible candidates can apply for the B.Tech course by visiting the official website.
- The candidate should meet the cutoff prescribed by the institute for admission to the B.Tech course.
- The shortlisted candidate should attend the JoSAA/CSAB or the MHT CET counselling and based on the scores obtained in the entrance examination, the candidates will be shortlisted for IIIT Pune admissions.
- The final selected candidates will be informed about seat allotment through a registered phone number or email ID.
- Candidates should get the documents verified and pay the admission fee to confirm the admission.
IIIT Pune M.Tech Course Admission
The 2 M.Tech programmes offered by IIIT Pune are provided with specialisations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) by the CSE department and the Internet of Things (IoT) by the ECE department. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria given below.

IIIT Pune M.Tech Admission Process
- Candidates are required to download the application form from the official website.
- Eligible candidates are required to fill out the Google form provided by the institute along with combining all the documents into a single PDF and uploading it in the form.
- Candidates have to pay a sum of Rs 590 (Rs 295 for SC/ST/PwD) as the application fee.
- Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of written tests and/or Interviews and qualifying the prescribed cutoff. (Note: Both GATE and non-GATE candidates can apply.)
