In just five decades it has grown into a large educational complex with 34 institutions catering to diverse fields of education such as Humanities, Engineering, Education, Medicine, Management, Pure Sciences and Mass Communication, with more than 39000+ Students and 3000+ Faculties and staff on a throbbing 50 acre campus!

The Somaiya Vidyavihar Complex was founded in 1959 by late Shri K.J. Somaiya (1902-1999). Endowed with a sharp business acumen, a balanced perspective and a social bent of mind, Karamshibhai set up the Somaiya Trust in 1953 for furthering his dream of shaping young minds through quality education. For this purpose he bought a large area of land at Ghatkopar, then considered to be distant, meagrely populated.

K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering is a constituent college of the prestigious Somaiya Vidyavihar University (UGC approved) and was established in 1983. The institute has a very qualified faculty as well as a state-of-the-art infrastructure. The college has been awarded an 'A' grade by the NAAC in the year 2017 and was awarded Autonomous status in the year 2014 with recommendations from the UGC and the Government of Maharashtra. The college campus is spread over 50 acres of lush green land. The institute offers students undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses under its engineering department. Admissions are granted on the basis of national levels entrance examinations such as MHT-CET, JEE Main, SAT, PERA-CET, CUET, and GATE.

Admission Process

PLACEMENTS

The training and placement cell provides placement services to students through campus interviews. Many multinational and well-known Indian conglomerates regularly visit K J Somaiya College Engineering for campus placement every year.

Training and placement cell motivates and prepares the students for the interviews and prospective workplaces. Careful and systematic preparation is initiated and sustained for this purpose.

·         All the official communication related to placement from/to the TPO will be through Official Somaiya Email i.e. [email protected].

·         Students will receive all the official emails on their Somaiya email only.

·         Students will use Somaiya email only unless specified by the company for using ‘Personal email’ while registering on any company portal (if required).

·         All the recruitment updates regarding test schedule, interview rounds, selection etc. will be shared from the TPO through email and/or from student coordinators through class WhatsApp groups.

·         Placement Cell organizes training/workshops on employability skills, personality development, resume building etc.

·         All the final year students (UG and PG) are required to actively participate in training programs/workshops

·         In this Policy,

• ‘Job Offer’ means any formal communication from the company for a student’s selection.
• ‘LPA’ means Lacs per annum in Indian Currency (INR)
• ‘Package’ means the monetary compensation offered by the company during the recruitment drive.
• ‘Core company’ means a company working in manufacturing/production/core engineering domain.
• Once the placement process is over and results are declared, selected students are required to accept the ‘Job Offer’ from the company, unless they are eligible for the Second Job opportunity.
• Some companies may insist on ‘100% joining’ of the selected students and if the students are agreeing to it, they are required to give written consent to the TPO for their acceptance of the ‘First Job Offer’ withdrawing their eligibility for the ‘Two Job Policy’.
• Pre Placement Talk (PPT) is conducted by the visiting company for the aspiring students to give details about job profile, service agreement, location etc.
• It’s an opportunity for students to interact with the company representatives and clarify all their doubts & concerns related to the job opportunity.
• It is mandatory for all the ‘Registered students’ to attend the Pre-Placement Talk.

KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai Placements

The institute has a placement cell that extends placement services to students. Various companies visit the campus for KJ Somaiya College of Engineering placements. Additionally, K J Somaiya College of Engineering provides Special Scholarships to students. The eligibility criteria for special scholarships is that candidates should have passed HSC or its equivalent examination (CBSE/ICSE/Other boards) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational subjects, and have appeared for JEE-Main/ SAT/ MHT-CET/ PERA-CET/ CUET 2023 entrance examination. Moreover, the scholarship amount ranges between INR 1 lakh to INR 2 lakh.
