Rajas Dental College and Hospital (RDCH) is a reputed private Dental College in Tirunelveli.  Popularly known as RDCH Kavalkinaru, it was established in the year 1987, as a fruit of the diligent and monumental efforts of the Founder-Chairman Sardar Dr. S.A. Raja.  The college effectively functions under the governing council of Selvam Educational Trust guided by the proficient leadership of its Chairman Prof. Dr. Jacob Raja – a man of clarity and innovation.  The Trust also manages the Sardar Rajas College of Nursing (SRCN) and the S. A. Raja Pharmacy College. Together the three sister Institutions lend Research and Academic Interactive Support to each other through the use of common facilities like the Animal house and the Central Research Lab.  Since then the college proudly has been at the forefront of delivering quality education in India with an illustrious 37 long years of excellence in grooming young and brilliant minds in the field of Dentistry and Allied Health Sciences. 

The awe inspiring RDCH campus, set in a sprawling verdant 30 acres of sylvan settings, and nestled in the lap of the Western Ghats, is located in strategic access between two National Highways, Chennai to Nagercoil Main Road, Kavalkinaru, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu (Near Check Post, Opposite ISRO, Thirurajapuram)

Rajas Dental College Kavalkinaru is Affiliated to the prestigious Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and is Approved by the Dental Council of India, Govt. of India.  In recognition of the Institution’s perspectives to constantly upgrade itself to World class standards of Education and Research, notably through Internet and Communication Technology (ICT) enabled smart interactive Classrooms and in-house research though the Central Research Laboratory, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has recognized, endorsed and validated these sterling efforts in 2021 through their coveted Accreditation.

Rajas Dental College and Hospital imparts Graduate (BDS Dental and BDS Medical), Post graduate (MDS) and Post doctoral (PhD) education which accords impetus to further research, specialization and enlightenment.  Admissions to both the BDS programs are based on National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by National Board of Examinations. Admissions to Post Graduation courses need a Pass in B.D.S. Degree from University recognized by Dental Council of India and Government of India and should be NEET PG Qualified.

RDCH keeps alive its commitment to the environment by using renewable energy sources with a 60KW captive Solar Power Plant and use of wind energy as part of the Muppandal Wind Farm (India’s largest and third largest in the world).  The college provides every kind of infrastructural facilities and amenities for the welfare of is students and staff.

RDCH has modern facilities and advanced equipments. Students are integrated into advanced training modules apart from the prescribed curriculum emphasizing sterilization and disinfection protocols.

A well equipped Central Research Lab (CRL) reflects the commitment towards R&D where staff / students take part in innovative research activities. This comes as a valuable adjunct to the PhD courses in Prosthodontics and Conservative dentistry.

 RDCH lays special emphasis in evolving ingenious Teaching and Learning methods like Smart Board Teaching, Small Group Clinical Discussions, One-on-One Teaching and a Peer Support System, where one weak/failed student is clubbed with a smart student as part of a Remedial Teaching Program. In addition it has Problem and Clinical-based Teaching, Pedagogy and Interdisciplinary Meets like OOO, Orthognathic Meet, and Tobacco Specialty Clinics where they work within the various departments to deliver the best teaching and learning outcomes.

The Outreach Program, “Reaching the unreached” works with a motto of sensitizing the rural public by creating awareness on oral health and the importance of diagnosis and treating various dental disorders. This is achieved by organizing a plethora of dental camps within the neighboring rural community.

The highest package received is 6 LPA, and the lowest package is around Rs. 80,000 per annum. Many students have joined private clinics and also government hospitals. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is really good.

Facilities

Boys Hostel
College provides separate hostel facilities for boys. Boys hostels are constructed with modern amenities and have adequate capacity for lodging the students. A well-organized mess hall which provides hot/water, freshly cooked food three times a day and evening tea. In house wardens and tight security provides a peaceful atmosphere for the inmates.

Medical/Hospital
There is a full-fledged medical department and pharmacy in the dental college itself. Students can avail the services of the resident duty officer who, in the medical department.

Library
The college has a well-equipped library which houses almost all major book and journals pertaining to dentistry. Other than hard copies there is an internet section where students can avail the facility of online journals. An Air-conditioned research section ensures the students to go through the research journals in a relaxed ambiance. There is the repository of dissertations submitted to various universities of the country which will help the students through their research activities.


Sports
Being involved in sports activities benefits a person in many ways. It does not provide only physical strength however it increases mental power too. In the institution, great importance is provided for the recreational activities of the children. Students can participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor games, such as Table Tennis, Carrom, Football, Cricket, and Badminton. There are designated play areas and courts for these games, and games equipment is usually provided by the college. The college organizes "Sports Week" and "Cultural Week" annually, in which all students and faculty are encouraged to participate whole-heartedly.

Cafeteria
The Cafeteria is considered the best hangout spot by students. Variety of food is in the offering at the affordable rates and keeps students pretty pleased. The spacious cafeteria is seen as the hub of all activities with students who get to break free from routine life to have a quick bite of appetizing food. The service extends from 7:30 am till 6:00 pm and provides all types of food at minimal rates.

The college has an auditorium which can seat around 1000 people. CDE programs are conducted by every department in a year which helps the students to be updated on their topics.
