Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management is a unit of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust.  The college was established in the year 2010 under the guidance of H. H. Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt, Udupi who is the Trust President.  The SSVME Trust was registered on 29 October, 2009 as a Charitable Trust under the Indian Trusts Act 1882 with the express objective of promoting Educational and Research activities in the rural areas of the country.  The Trust is running many Educational Institutions which provide value based quality education to the student community.  The Trust is putting its sincere efforts to meet the objectives by establishing more Education Institutions.

 
The total campus area of SMVITM is a sprawling 70 acres of serene environment. The Institute is located in Bantekal Main Road, Bantakal Post Office, Bantekal, Udipi, Karnataka.  The nearby Bantekal village is well connected by buses from Katapady, Udupi, and Bantakal. The campus is 6 km off Katapady. There are buses plying every 5 mins. The nearest railway station is in Manipal and nearest airport is Mangalore Airport.

 
Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Belagavi and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and by the Government of Karnataka. The institute has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) as Grade-A college with CGPA of 3.13, which is the highest for any Engineering College in Coastal Karnataka and in Mysuru region of VTU.

 
SMVITM offers UG, PG and Doctoral level programs including BE in 6 disciplines, MBA and Ph.D in 6 specializations.  Admission is done on the basis of performance of the candidate in the Common Entrance Test (CET) examination conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The remaining seats are filled by Management quota.

 
The Institution has excellent infrastructure where ICT enabled Classrooms are provided with LCD projectors. The facilities are created to enable an effective and efficient teaching-learning transaction.  Each department has tutorial classroom to conduct remedial classes and address the need of slow learners.  Apart from this SMVITM has well-equipped and well-maintained Laboratories, Seminar Halls, Conference Room, Interview Cabins and Board Room, Central Library, Language Lab, Information & Communication Technology, Sports facility, Cafeteria, Hostels, Wi-Fi, Transportation, Stationery & Photocopy facilities, Medical Aid, Bank & ATM, Sewage Treatment & Solar Energy.

The active and dedicated Training & Placement Cell of SMVITM ensures that the students confidently launch their career path by providing all training and guidance to get good placements both for Internships as well as jobs. This includes jobs in the Private/Government sector, Defense Forces or Merchant Navy, Higher Studies in India or abroad, Entrepreneurship, or even Specialized Training. The SMVITM T&P Cell acts as facilitators always striving to facilitate placement for its students through three areas – Career Guidance, Pre-placement Training, and Employment/Placement opportunities. I love this phrase and it has always inspired me as a guiding philosophy in my personal and professional life.
To all my students, I challenge them on similar lines. DREAM BIG. When you dream big, you make things happen. When you set the goal, aim for 100% and prepare yourselves through effort and practice to achieve it through smaller doable goals. Achieving small goals increases your confidence and motivates you to carry out the next steps enthusiastically. Yes, there will be obstacles along the way and that is the way to learn important life lessons. You will achieve 80% success in the process. Don’t set mediocre, average expectations, and goals for yourself. If you aim for 60%, you may achieve the same 80%, which is 48%. So, which is better?

My second advice is to BE GENEROUS and SELFLESS. Share your knowledge with everyone. That makes you understand the subject better. The more you improve your subject knowledge helping your friends or the weak students in your class, you become more competent to clarify doubts, solve problems, and get the ability to share clear-cut solutions. This builds your people skills and competencies. You build relationships and bonds with so many people which lasts a lifetime. Being selfish only makes you insecure, resentful, and envious and it’s not worth it in the long run.

ROLE OF THE TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL

The role of the Placement Cell of SMVITM is to ensure that all students confidently launch their career path before they step foot outside the college post their graduation. This includes jobs in the private of govt sector, jobs in the Defense Forces or Merchant Navy, Higher Studies in India or abroad, Entrepreneurship, or even specialized training. We are the facilitators whose job is to provide opportunities to students, provided the students put in equal efforts by preparing themselves through subject knowledge, application skill sets, attitudes, and behavior which are the guiding forces that help them to achieve their goals and meet with success in getting placed or finding the opportunities of their interest
The Placement Cell of SMVITM has always strived to facilitate placement for its students through three areas – Career guidance, Pre-placement training, and Employment/Placement opportunities. Career guidance is given to the students through invited talks from people from various industries giving them an understanding of various sectors and industries that they have the scope in. They are also given orientations on preparations for competitive exams like GATE, GMAT, CAT, TOEFL through various coaching institutions, virtual resources, newsletters, etc. The College has signed MoU’s with various training partners to skill-up the students through Technical, Softskills, and Aptitude training to complement the knowledge gained from stream-related subjects to meet the demands and requirements from industries for the hiring process. Students have opportunities to apply for recruitment drives of Mass recruiters like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, etc along with mid-sized companies and start-ups across India. Being a VTU affiliated college, we are also supported by the VTU Centralized Placement Cell, through various learning portals, internship & job portals; assessment and training companies. Opportunities to find employment with local companies like Robosoft Technologies, Manipal Technologies, Niveus Solutions, Karmic Designs, etc, are also encouraged.

+ Placement Process
The Placement Officer is a facilitator for all placement related activities and does not guarantee jobs to students.

The Placement Register is open to all Final Year students of the college – 7th and 8th semester. All students need to register their interest to be eligible for Placement activities.

The Placement Department has guidelines that are shared with the students for their understanding of the opportunities for placement through exclusive campus or pooled campus recruitment drives organized by the Institution.

It is mandatory for the students to attend Aptitude and Soft Skills trainings and have minimum 85% attendance to participate in any Placement drive organized by the college.

SMVITM provides a good number of scholarships to needy students. Based on several factors, including academic merit, diversity and inclusion, financial requirements, scholarships are awarded. The study criteria typically represent the donor’s or the founder’s principles and objectives. Though scholarship recipients are not obligated to reimburse scholarships, the grant may enable the beneficiary to achieve a minimum average grade point or engage in a certain task during the duration of the help.

Classrooms and Tutorial Rooms
The Institution has adequate number of classrooms which is verified and approved by AICTE. The classrooms are well ventilated and have the provision for good lighting, thereby avoiding unnecessary expenditure on electricity consumption through lights, Fans and ACs.

The Institution has ICT enabled classrooms provided with LCD projectors. The facilities are created to enable an effective and efficient teaching-learning transaction.

Each department has tutorial classroom to conduct remedial classes and address the need of slow learners.

Laboratories
Well equipped, and well-maintained laboratories with sufficient hardware and licensed/open source software are available in each department to carry out curriculum-oriented lab practical’s, hands on sessions and research activities. All computer labs are provided with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

Seminar Halls, Conference Room, Interview Cabins and Board Room
The institution has conference room, board room and seminar halls, to conduct meetings, conferences, workshops and symposia for students, faculty/staff. It is equipped with LCD projector and public address system.

Sports Facility

There are multiple sports facilities to keep our students and staff engaged and physically fit.

Outdoor and Indoor Sports Facilities
Every student is encouraged to take active part in outdoor and indoor activities. Our college has set up facilities/grounds for athletics and games such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, throw ball, javelin throw, discus throw, kabaddi, tennis, badminton, table-tennis, chess, carom and many more.

Athletics
Athletics is an exclusive collection of sporting events that involve competitive running, jumping, throwing and many more. The most common types of athletic competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running and race walking. SMVITM has a very efficient team of athletes. Team not only takes part in the sporting events held at our college, but also participates in the competitions held in other Institutes and Universities across the country. The Institute shall encourage the students to participate in inter University level and Intra University level events.

Games
Playing and being involved in the games improves confidence, boosts personality and provides a good deal of excitement and entertainment in life. We encourage and facilitate the students to take part in all types of games activities conducted at inter and intra-college level competitions.

Gymnasium
In addition with sports and games facilities, we provide gymnasium facilities to all students and staff. In order to ensure a sound body and mind, health and fitness, gymnasium facilities are provided to all the students and staff. A modern gym, with all the latest gadgets has been set up in the college.

Wi-Fi

The institution provides high speed internet facility through Wi-Fi technology for academic purpose, to stay advanced and provide students with the best of the latest services by enabling them to access the internet through the wireless router, anytime and anywhere in the campus.

Hostel

The institution has separate Boys and Girls hostels are available on sharing basis in order to provide a good atmosphere to the students to pursue their studies.

Cafeteria

SMVITM campus has a separate cafeteria that is well ventilated and clean with sufficient number of seating and service capacity for students/staff.

The Cafeteria provides hygienic and delicious South Indian, North Indian, Chinese food items. It also provides bakery items, chats, fruit juices and variety of ice creams.

Sewage Treatment Plant

As an eco-initiative, Institute has set up Sewage Treatment plant with a capacity of 130 kilo litres using batch reactor technology. Maintenance of the same is done through the supplier every month where 40 litres of chlorine is used to clean it and the recycled water is reused for gardening purpose.

Solar Energy
Solar panels of 125KW is set up in the Institute to save electricity and solar water heaters are set up in the hostels for student’s convenience. The maintenance is done as per the guidelines from the supplier.

Stationery and Reprography facility

College has a stationery shop and also a photocopying center inside the campus with subsidized rates for the benefit of students.

Medical Aid
College provides medical aid facility for the students in emergency cases. Medical Doctors visit the college on call, for any medical needs of students and staff members. Sick room is available for students and staff of SMVITM.

Bank and ATM Facility

Karnataka Bank ATM facility is provided for the students inside the campus.

Transportation

The Institution provides bus facility to daily commuters for both students and staff from Udupi, Kundapur, Hiriyadka, Saibarakatte and Manipal. Around 300 commuters avail this facility for conveyance to and from the college. An Institutional Bus coordinator is available for any queries regarding transportation.
