 In the post independence era there arose an acute need for providing higher education for rural women which then remained a much coveted dream for the women to pursue their education past school. An indelible mark was made in the educational map of the erstwhile Coimbatore district, when this illustrious institution par excellence was established in 1952. Thiru G.V.Govindaswamy Naidu, the munificent and philanthropic founder envisioned the importance of women’s education made an ingenious initiative to provide education to the rural women folk of socially and economically underprivileged strata of the society.

The creative visualization of our founder blossomed into a reality in the establishment Sri G.V.G.Visalakshi College for women in udumalpet. It enjoys the status of being the first ever women’s college and continues to spread the radiance further perpetuating the glory of disseminating a fruitful, value based education. The positive attributes to enhance education was further spread by Dr. V. Genguswamy Naidu and Thirumathi G.Rajalakshmi Genguswamy Naidu. The golden vision and the glorifying mission of the noble founder were passed on to his notable descendants with the same spirit enlarging the scope and quality of higher education

Admission Procedure

·         ADMISSION POLICY AND PROCESS

All the candidates seeking admission to the Undergraduate (UG) / Postgraduate (PG) are required to register online or can visit to the College and receive the printed application.

Admission is made purely on the basis of merit, subject to the rules of reservation of the Government of Tamil Nadu and Bharathiar University.

As per the present policy, a candidate seeking admission in Undergraduate (UG) programmes must have passed 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognised board and seeking admission in Postgraduate (PG) programmes must have passed UG programme from a recognised Institution/University.

The applicants will be eligible to take admission in all the program(s) provided they satisfy the cut-off and the eligibility for the selected program. If applicants have examination results pending or have reappeared in papers, the college may be contacted for further details of admissions.

Applicants will be responsible for the quality and authenticity of all the information they enter, including the submission of copies of certificates.

Admissions will be considered to be complete only when the full fee for the academic year is paid.

APPLICATION FORM

Admissions are made on the basis of merit and the reservation rules of the Government.

Application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the college office on payment of Rs. 35/- (application Rs. 25/- Registration Rs. 10/-) for UG courses and Rs. 85/- (application Rs. 75/- Registration Rs. 10/-) for PG courses. Postal requests for application and prospectus should indicate the particulars of course requested and should enclose a DD or MO for Rs. 50/- for UG and Rs. 100/- for PG programmes.

Applications should be submitted within 10 working days after the declaration of higher secondary course results.

A card will be sent to the candidate provisionally selected who will be called for an interview with the Principal on the date notified thereon. Admissions made are provisionally subject to the approval of Bharathiar University.

About Placement

The Placement Cell is a year round activity to facilitate contacts between organizations and students. Our College has a full-fledged training and placement cell and it is an integral part of the Institution. The cell is committed to provide all possible assistance to its graduates and post graduates in their efforts to find employment. It is headed by Placement Officers and is well supported by both faculties as well as student placement coordinators from various departments and centre's for studies.

It assists in arranging pre-placement talks, written tests, group discussions, personal interviews, soft skill training, technical seminars and student assessments and has rapidly progressed over the years in enhancing the placement potential effectively.

Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women, Udumalpet is an innovative and eco-friendly learning environment. It has a state-of-the-art infrastructure with separate schools of academic buildings sprawling over huge land areas. The campus is facilitated with commendable green initiates like installed solar panel grids, rainwater recharge points and many more. To provide accommodation for outstation candidates there are two boys hostels and one girls hostel. The inhabitants are also equipped with a banking facility with ATMs for money transactions and are provided adequate health care facilities in cases of emergency.

The canteen at SGVCVCW Udumalpet serves hygienic and a variety of foods. It has separate departmental laboratories with specialized sections for research and experiments. SGVCVCW Udumalpet has a well-stocked library with one of the best computing facilities, it has housed enormous printed volumes.
