Sri Sharada College Basrur, Kundapura, Udupi District is an esteemed institution of higher learning affiliated with Mangalore University. The college was founded by Sri Sharada College Trust (Regd), Basrur in 1972, to meet the demands of rural youth for University education. Since then it has been striving to empower the economically less fortunate and socially marginalised sections of the society with knowledge and skills required to face the challenges of the modern world. The Peer Team of NAAC visited the college on the 20th, and 21st of December 2022 for reaccreditation and was awarded B++ Grade under the new methodology.

The founders of the college also believed that no education is worth the name if the instructions in various disciplines are not accompanied by proper shaping of character. A sense of disciplined purpose, cultivation of proper attitudes, and awareness of multiple responsibilities, which the young would be called upon to shoulder, when they step into life are some of the values that students should learn along with their subjects.

To develop social concern especially for the poor and needy people. To encourage the intellectual, physical, aesthetic and spiritual growth of the students; and to develop the nation through individual development.

The whole admission process for all the courses offered is offline and merit-based. Any candidate who fulfills the minimum eligibility criteria can take part in the admission process. Admission to all the courses is based on the marks scored by the applicant in the concerned qualifying examination.

It has become essential that the students bridge the gap between campus and corporate life. The Career Counselling Cell of our college identify the skills required for the transition to corporate world and need a through training to enhance employability skill. A primary objective of this cell is to ensure that every student would have developed a competency which is very much necessary to face the corporate selection process and the competitively equipped to face competition. This cell initiates grooming process from campus to corporate transition with special focus towards placement.

Our college is not only committed to provide quality education to its students but also guide them successfully towards their career and goals. The placement cell of our college from the past many years have been training out students towards their career by conducting various training sessions , sessions on the job market, entrance examinations , personality development., etc. It also providing coaching for our students in the preparation of entrance examinations like Bank exams, National level preliminary exams, Aptitude tests etc. The cell has conducted many placement drives and provided employment to several youth.

The Career Counselling Cell covers following areas of activities:

Corporate Accessibility – Expectations of the corporate world, Current Trends and needs and identification of sector wise needs.
Development of Etiquette- Development of communication skills, phone, E-mail, on-line application submission. etc.
Personality Development Programmes- Grooming behavior, developing body language. etc.
Presentation skills- Students presentations, seminars, demo presentations.
Writing skills- Resume writing .
Group Discussion, Interview preparation, conducting mock interviews. etc.
Conducting Placement Drives at least two in a Academic Year, one each in each semester.
