 TJ Educational Trust and Ponniamman Educational Trust jointly established T J Institute of Technology in the year 2001 with the objective of producing high quality Engineers and Technocrats.  There has been a surge in institutions offering engineering education to cope up with phenomenal demand for qualified engineers in all areas caused by the rapid progress made by our country in the field of Science and Technology.  Three colleges of the Group effectively reflect the philosophy of the founding Trusts.  The objective and the lofty goals of the College management is to achieve Superlative Academic Standards. 

 
Set in 10.08 acres of serene and beautiful surroundings, TJIT provides the students with a conducive ambience to learn and develop.  It is situated in the vicinity of several industrial units on the famed Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Highway), Karapakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  The college is located 10 KM away from Tambaram, 1 KM from Sholinganallur and is just 6 KM from TIDEL, the Software Technology Park of Chennai.  

 
The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu.  

 
T J Institute of Technology offers several UG and PG programs like BE/BTech, ME, MBA and MCA which are affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

 
TJIT is spread over a vast area, built with a view to provide students total comfort.  The campus with well-built Class rooms, fully equipped Laboratories, Workshops, State of the art Computer centre and a well-stocked library can be compared to the best available elsewhere.  The landscaping has been elaborately planned in the manner of foreign universities.  In keeping with the Management's environment policy, trees have been planted to add to the beauty of the campus.

 
As the courses are being constantly added on, the infrastructural facilities are also being updated.  It is the endeavour of the college to give the students ample opportunity to widen their horizons in every activity. Admission Procedure
As per Govt.of Tamilnadu and Anna University, Chennai norms

Parents and students are requested to carefully read the instructions given in the application forms and adhere to the same strictly. Every application must be accompanied by necessary documents. Incomplete applications and failure to append the stipulated documents may lead to rejection. The relevant University guidelines are given herein.

Prospectus and application forms for all courses are available at the college as well as at the Corporate Office. Kindly ensure that you fill in absolutely correct details. In the event it is found that a candidate has furnished incorrect information:

He / She will forfeit the admission irrespective of what stage of the course he / she is in at that point of time.

He / She will be debarred from pursuing any course of studies.

Legal action will be initiated against him / her for furnishing wrong information.

Training & Placements
The Department of Training & Placements functions tirelessly and endeavours to provide job opportunities keeping in mind the students' preference and strength. In the ever changing technological world where today's technology becomes outdated tomorrow, we fully understand the Corporate expectation from students. Based on this understanding, we have signed MOUs with leading training companies for providing communication, soft skills and technical training. The comprehensive training program commences from the first semester onwards with Communication Skills, second semester with Personality Development Program. In the second and third year, the students are trained on the latest technology with at least two certifications. In the final year, the students undergo an intensive placement training leading to a successful career launch.

The Department has also signed MOUs with leading Companies for Industry-Institute Collaboration, through which regular guest lectures from Industry are arranged. Also real-time projects are sourced to the students for testing their skills.

The College imparts world class training and research. The College provides state of the art computing facilities to the students. It also promotes active industry-institute collaboration by identifying areas of interest and taking part in sponsored research projects and consultancy services.

Some of the major research areas which the faculty members and students working on are Networks, Database, Theoretical Computer Science, Multimedia, Image Processing, Software Engineering and Data Mining.

The College provides extensive computing resources for research and education. This includes more than 300 high-performance computers in the range of Linux, Windows workstations and a good number of laptop systems. In addition to general purpose file server, the department maintains two specialized servers for database clients and Linux based workstations. Department network communications include a fiber optic backbone, offering 16 Mbps connectivity to the commodity internet and provides intranet within the Hi-tech lab, which hosts 11 laboratories. The department has wireless internet connectivity via a campus-wide 802.11b network to the laptops.

TJIT Central Library houses nearly 28,000 volumes of books and 5,800 titles enables the students in their study and research. An online journal database with a link to IEEE is also available. The spacious reading area lends a calm and comfortable atmosphere for students and faculty members to pursue excellence in academics. The library is equipped with all modern facilities on par with international standards. NPTEL video lectures are also available in various disciplines. This facility can be accessed inside the campus through intranet. Interactive lectures through Anna EDUSAT Ku-Band is also available for the faculty and students. It functions from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. The library owns a book bank section for the needy students.

Wi-Fi
The Campus has been interconnected through Wired as well as Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network. The facilities provided through these services are access to internet, intranet and institution based mail access.

The coverage of Wi-Fi is not restricted only to the classrooms but also extends to common areas like, Seminar hall, Library, Cafeteria, Sports Complex and student hostels.

With this infrastructure, the students have an access to all e-learning materials related to academics. TJIT has become an exemplar to other institutions who visit the campus to view & understand the Wi-Fi setup and its achievements.

In TJIT, students are encouraged to take active part in sports and games. To facilitate this, there is a huge playground for Cricket, Football, Tennis, Volley ball, Athletics etc. An Indoor Stadium built on par with International Standards houses games such as Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Squash. Gymnasia are available for boys and girls. The Physical Director supervises and guides the sports activities.

Canteen
A well-equipped, modern cafeteria in the campus provides hygienic food at subsidized rates for the students, staff and visitors to the college. It works extended hours for those inclined for a quick snack amidst their various activists.

Nearly 12,000 sq.ft. have been earmarked for the canteen, stocked with popular items to provide refreshing breaks for the students within the campus itself.

Health Centre
The Health Centre here at T J Institute of Technology is well equipped. It has separate inpatient facility for male and female students. The health centre provides quality health care in a comfortable and confidential environment. The centre has 6 beds and adequately supplied medicine cabinet.

The health centre is manned by a medical officer and a healthcare assistant to provide excellent medical care to all the students, staff and faculty at no cost. The Medical Officer manages the various aspects of the facility. He provides quality health care to everyone, evaluates the quality of services, maintains the overall efficiency of the centre and decides the procedures to be followed in case of emergency. Also, vaccinations and yearly checks ups are done at this facility. In the future we look forward to expand and bring in high-tech medical equipments to serve better.
