University College of Engineering Tindivanam (UCET)

 
University College of Engineering Tindivanam (A Constituent College of Anna University, Chennai), established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 2008,  was inaugurated by Dr M. Karunanithi, the then-honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, on September 1, 2008.  It was initially started with four departments namely Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology.

The first year classes for the Engineering students in University College of Engineering Tindivanam were initiated on 8th September, 2008 in the presence of Dr. K. Ponmudy, Honorable Minister of Higher Education, Tamil Nadu.  Dr. R. Raju, the then Special Officer of UCET campus shouldered the responsibilities of establishing the College and to oversee the growth of University College of Engineering, Tindivanam.  With the Government of Tamil Nadu initiative, Civil Engineering (Tamil Medium) course was started in 2010.  It was proposed that the Regional Research Centre at UCET be started.

The University College of Engineering Tindivanam is located in a beautiful campus in an area of 18 acres of land at College Road, Melpakkam Village, Ayyanthoppu, Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu which is adjacent to Tiruvannamalai National Highway.  The nearest airport to the college is Puduchery airpor, located about 42.6 Km away.  The nearest Railway Station to the University College of Engineering, Tindivanam is the Tindivanam Railway Station, located at a distance of 6.2 Kms away.  The nearest Bus Stop is Santhamedu Bus Stop, located 4.4 Kms away.  Students can easily reach the college by hiring a Cab/Taxi from these places.

University College of Engineering Tindivanam is Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and Approved by AICTE, New Delhi.  UCET is one of the Zonal centres of AUC & AUTC.  It was proposed to start Regional Research Centre at UCET. 

UCET courses which are offered in the field of Engineering and Technology include BE/B.Tech programs.  The Admissions to these courses are done on the basis of marks obtained in 12th and TNEA counselling.  UCE Tindivanam has an intake of 270 students.

 University College of Engineering Tindivanam has envisioned a wide range of improvement and development both in Academics and Administration since 2008.  The facilities provided by UCET include Library, Hostels, Seminar Hall, Centralized Computer System, Sports Facilities, Auditorium, IT Infrastructure, Laboratories, Bank/ATM, and many more.   A three-storied building with modern infrastructure is built in the said area in addition to separate Hostels for Boys and Girls.  This university campus is a place for budding engineers to widen their technical knowledge through which they could enhance their innovative ideas by effectively accessing all available technical resources found inside the campus.

The UCET campus provides a great support to technical education by bringing in a number of well experienced experts from various disciplines as staff members. Most of the staff members here, being doctoral holders in their relative fields, are packed with information so that the student’s thirst for research is easily quenched. 

The Training and Placement Cell of the UCET is committed to assisting its graduates in their efforts to find employment for its students.  The training & Placement service operates year round to facilitate contacts between companies & Graduates.  The aim is to ensure that students have the information and skills necessary for an effective job search.  Those considering careers in education or its related fields are offered detailed career guidance at the Training & Placement Cell.   Additionally, the Training & Placement Cell helps the students to improve their communication Skills and Presentation Skills.  All counseling is based on up to-date placement statistics and an envisioned view of future educational and industrial trends.

BE / B.Tech

Admission Process:

• TNEA Application:  Admission to the B.Tech program is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process. Candidates need to apply    Online through the TNEA portal.
  
• Merit List:  Based on the higher secondary marks, a merit list is prepared. The marks are scaled to 200, and ranks are assigned accordingly.
  
• Counseling:  Candidates are called for counseling based on their ranks in the merit list. During counseling, candidates can choose their preferred course and college
  

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed the higher secondary examination (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as core subjects.
  
• Candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50 % marks in PCM.
