JEE Main 2026 Cutoff Determining Factors
National Testing Agency (NTA determines the cutoff based on the following factors:
- The number of candidates who appeared for JEE Main is considered; higher participation generally results in a higher cutoff.
- The difficulty level of the exam is considered; a more difficult paper usually leads to a lower cutoff percentile due to reduced overall performance.
- A fixed intake is maintained, with approximately 2.5 lakh candidates allowed to qualify for JEE Advanced.
- The total number of applications received is evaluated; higher registrations usually lead to an increase in the qualifying percentile.
- The category under which admission is granted is also considered, with separate cutoffs for General (CRL), OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD categories.
What is the minimum qualification required to appear in JoSAA counselling?
- Candidates must have a JEE Main and/or JEE Advanced rank.
- Candidates must have at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the minimum required is 65%.
- Candidates must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class 12 board.
