Comprehensive Overview of Degree Programmes Available at IITs and Their Standard Course Duration: Registration for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 will commence on April 23, 2026. The entrance test is scheduled to be conducted on May 17, 2026, in two sessions: Paper 1 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and Paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates who secure a position among the top 2.5 lakh qualifiers of the JEE Main examination will be eligible to register through the official website, www.jeeadv.ac.in.

JEE Advanced serves as the primary pathway for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country.

The IITs provide a wide range of undergraduate academic programmes, which include Bachelor’s degrees, Integrated Master’s programmes, and Dual Degree options in disciplines such as Engineering, Sciences, and Architecture. In addition to these standard offerings, certain IITs also provide enhanced academic choices such as BTech (Honours) programmes, minor specialisations, and interdisciplinary dual degree courses.

The major programmes offered by IITs along with their minimum duration are listed below:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BTech): 4 years
  • Integrated Master’s Programme: 5 years
  • Bachelor–Master Dual Degree Programme: 5 years
  • BTech (Honours): Offered by select IITs as an advanced option in addition to the regular 4-year BTech programme
  • Minor Programmes: Available at select IITs and can be pursued alongside BTech or Dual Degree programmes
  • Interdisciplinary Dual Degree: Offered at some IITs, allowing students to complete a Bachelor’s degree in one department and a Master’s degree in another
