IIT Kanpur Invites Applications for Online M.Tech, M.Sc., and PG Diploma Programs for Working Professionals

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has opened admissions for its newly launched online master’s and postgraduate diploma programs, designed specifically for working professionals seeking to advance their qualifications without interrupting their careers. Learners can now pursue senate-approved M.Tech, M.Sc., and PG Diploma degrees from IIT Kanpur while continuing their professional engagements.

Prof. Vimal Kumar, Professor-in-Charge, Office of Outreach Activities, highlighted that these online programs blend the flexibility of digital learning with IIT Kanpur’s renowned academic excellence, empowering learners to take on leadership roles in technology, economics, and emerging disciplines.

“Whether you are a professional, a graduate, or a lifelong learner, these programs offer an opportunity to enhance expertise, strengthen skills, and create meaningful impact,” said Prof. Kumar.

According to IIT Kanpur’s official release, “These programs are structured to prepare learners for the challenges of a rapidly evolving global environment and enable them to contribute effectively to national and international development.”

The new programs include:

• M.Tech (Online) in Wireless Networks & Machine Learning, RF Engineering, Microelectronics & VLSI
• M.Sc. (Online) in Economics and Data Analytics
• PG Diploma (Online) in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and Renewable Energy Technologies

Eligibility & Admission:
Applicants must hold a qualifying degree with a minimum CPI of 5.5 or 55% marks. Admission will be based on valid national-level test scores(GATE, JAM, CEED, CAT, GRE, or GMAT) meeting department-specific cut-offs, or through IIT Kanpur’s online entrance examination. Departments may also specify additional requirements such as academic background, core coursework, professional experience, or interviews.

Exemptions from the online test will be granted to candidates with over five years of relevant professional experience or those nominated/sponsored by government or defense organizations.

Program Features:
Participants will benefit from flexible study durations—M.Tech/M.Sc. (2–4 years) and PG Diplomas (1–2 years)—as well as direct mentorship and live interactive sessions with IIT Kanpur faculty. All successful learners will be awarded senate-approved degrees and diplomas at IIT Kanpur’s convocation.
