NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Announced for June 21; NTA Opens Special City Selection Correction Window: The National Testing Agency has officially announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid controversy surrounding irregularities and paper leak allegations.

The National Testing Agency has officially announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid controversy surrounding irregularities and paper leak allegations.

According to the latest update issued by NTA, candidates who appeared for the earlier NEET UG 2026 examination will now be allowed to modify or update their preferred examination city through a special “City Selection/Correction Window” introduced by the agency.

The move comes as lakhs of medical aspirants across the country prepare once again for the highly competitive entrance examination for undergraduate medical admissions.

NTA Announces Fresh NEET UG 2026 Examination Date

As per the official notification, the NEET UG 2026 re-exam has been scheduled for June 21, 2026. The earlier examination, which was conducted in May, was cancelled after serious concerns were raised regarding the integrity of the examination process.

The decision to reconduct the examination was taken after consultations between the Ministry of Education and NTA officials to ensure transparency and fairness in the medical entrance examination system.

Special City Selection/Correction Window Activated

To facilitate candidates appearing for the re-examination, NTA has opened a dedicated “City Selection/Correction Window”. Through this facility, students can make changes to their preferred examination city based on their current location and convenience.

The agency stated that many students had changed their place of residence after the cancellation of the examination, making it necessary to provide another opportunity for updating exam city preferences.

Candidates are advised to complete the correction process within the specified timeline on the official NEET portal.

Fresh Admit Cards to be Issued

NTA has clarified that new admit cards for the June 21 re-examination will be issued separately. The revised hall tickets will contain updated examination centre details and instructions for candidates.

Students will be able to download the fresh NEET UG 2026 admit cards from the official website once released.

Security Measures Expected to Be Strengthened

Following the controversy surrounding the cancelled examination, authorities are expected to introduce stricter security measures at examination centres across the country.

Enhanced surveillance, tighter frisking procedures, biometric verification and stricter handling of confidential examination materials are likely to be implemented to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.

Students Advised to Follow Official Updates Only

NTA has urged candidates and parents not to believe rumours circulating on social media regarding the examination or counselling process.

Students have been advised to regularly check the official NTA and NEET websites for authentic updates related to:

  • NEET UG 2026 re-exam schedule

  • City correction facility

  • Admit card release

  • Examination guidelines

  • Result announcements
