AP NEET PG: Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, has formally released a notification granting a Free Exit option to candidates allotted postgraduate (PG) medical seats during Phase-1 and Phase-2 counselling for the 2025–26 academic session.
This step has been taken after receiving multiple representations from PG aspirants who intend to resign their state counselling seats upon securing admissions through Institutes of National Importance (INI) such as AIIMS, New Delhi, or via counselling processes of other states.
The Free Exit provision is applicable to seats allotted under both the Competent Authority Quota (Non-Service) and the Management Quota.
Eligibility for Free Exit
As per the official notification, the following candidates can avail the Free Exit facility without any penalty, provided they comply with the prescribed procedure and timeline:
- Candidates who have joined PG medical seats through State Counselling, and
- Candidates who were allotted seats in Phase-1 or Phase-2 counselling.
Free Exit Schedule
The resignation window for availing the Free Exit option is strictly limited to the following period:
- Commencement: 12 January 2026, 04:00 PM
- Closure: 14 January 2026, 04:00 PM
Candidates must complete the entire resignation process within this timeframe. Requests submitted after the deadline will not be considered under any circumstances.
Step-by-Step Process to Avail Free Exit
Candidates opting for the Free Exit option must strictly adhere to the following procedure:
- Personally visit the allotted college and submit a formal resignation.
- Submit an undertaking in the format prescribed by NTRUHS.
- Ensure that the college principal updates the resignation details in the official college login portal.
In addition, college principals are required to:
- Freeze the data by 05:00 PM on 14 January 2026.
- Email signed lists of reported, not-reported, and resigned candidates, along with the undertakings, to appgadmissions2021@gmail.com
Failure to complete any of the above steps will result in the resignation being treated as invalid.
Refund of Original Documents and Fees
The University has clearly instructed that:
- All original certificates submitted by the candidates must be returned by the college principals.
- Tuition fees and any other fees collected must be fully refunded to candidates who resign under the Free Exit provision.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates choosing the Free Exit option must keep the following points in mind:
- The Free Exit facility can be exercised only within the notified timeline.
- Once a seat is surrendered under Free Exit, it cannot be claimed again by the same candidate.
- Seats vacated through Free Exit will not be available to the same candidate in Phase-III counselling.
- Resigned candidates are eligible to participate in Phase-III counselling, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
- All seats vacated through this process will be added to the Phase-III counselling pool.
Restrictions and Penalties
NTRUHS has issued strict cautions to prevent misuse of the facility:
- No extension of the Free Exit deadline will be provided under any condition.
- Dual reporting is strictly prohibited; candidates must not report to more than one counselling authority simultaneously.
- Any instance of dual reporting will attract serious penalties, including potential disqualification from the counselling process.

The Free Exit option offers much-needed relief to PG medical aspirants who have secured admissions in INI institutions or other state counselling processes after joining seats through AP state counselling.
