IIT Kanpur Introduces New Online MTech Courses
The institute has launched the following four online postgraduate programmes:
- MTech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- MTech in Construction Engineering and Project Management
- MTech in Smart Grid
- MTech in Sustainable Energy Technologies
According to IIT Kanpur, these programmes are designed to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in sectors such as intelligent systems, infrastructure development, clean energy, and modern power networks.
Flexible Online MTech Programmes for Working Professionals and Graduates
The institute stated that all four programmes will be conducted entirely in online mode and have received approval from the IIT Kanpur Senate.
The online MTech courses can be completed within a duration of two to four years, offering flexibility to both fresh graduates and working professionals. The structure of these programmes allows candidates to continue their higher education while managing professional responsibilities simultaneously.
Eligibility Criteria for IIT Kanpur Online MTech Programmes
To apply for the online MTech programmes, candidates must have secured:
- A minimum CPI of 5.5
or - At least 55% marks in the qualifying degree examination
IIT Kanpur Online MTech Admission Process
The admission procedure for the programmes will involve a two-stage evaluation process, which includes:
1. An online entrance examination conducted by IIT Kanpur
2. Department-level assessment through an online test or interview
The institute has also clarified that candidates possessing valid GATE scores and meeting department-specific cut-off requirements may be exempted from appearing in the entrance examination.
Additionally, applicants with at least five years of relevant professional work experience may also be considered for exemption from the entrance test, depending on departmental criteria.
