A notable highlight of this year's recruitment cycle is the significant participation of over 100 mature startups, thanks to the instituteβs extensive industry outreach initiatives. The number of core engineering companies and public sector undertakings (PSUs) has also increased compared to last year, indicating a rising industry interest in IIT Madras graduates.
Director V. Kamakoti stated that recruiters have shown a strong inclination toward hiring a considerable number of students this year. βThe season has started on a very positive note, and we are expecting a good placement year,β he added.
Approximately 2,000 students have registered for the placement process. The job roles offered span a wide range, including software development, consulting, finance, and business analytics. The institute expects an additional 100 companies to participate in Phase 2 of placements, scheduled from January to May.
To enhance industry engagement, IIT Madras has also formed an external advisory board consisting of alumni, entrepreneurs and industry leaders. The board aims to provide students with global exposure, support those preparing for civil services, and guide aspiring entrepreneurs.
Last year, IIT Madras successfully placed 93% of eligible students, with the remaining students pursuing diverse career opportunities.
