Tamil Nadu Reopens MBBS & BDS Admission Application Window for NEET UG 2026 Candidates; Final Opportunity to Apply Ends July 27: In a major relief for medical aspirants, the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) Selection Committee has reopened the online application window for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session. The decision has been taken following requests from students who were unable to complete their registration within the original deadline, providing them with one final opportunity to participate in the state medical admission process.

The authorities have, however, made it clear that this is a one-time relaxation granted purely in the interest of students and no further extension will be provided after the revised deadline.

Revised Application Schedule

According to the official notification issued by the Selection Committee:

Event Date & Time

Online Application Reopens

July 26, 2026 (10:00 AM)

Last Date to Submit Application

July 27, 2026 (3:00 PM)

Candidates are advised not to wait until the last few hours, as heavy website traffic may lead to technical issues during the closing period.

Who Can Apply?

The reopened application facility is only for candidates who have not yet submitted their online application for Tamil Nadu MBBS and BDS admissions.

Eligible applicants include:

  • NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates.

  • Students seeking admission to MBBS or BDS courses under the Tamil Nadu admission process.

  • Candidates who completely missed the previous application deadline.

The Selection Committee has clarified that this reopening is not meant for candidates who have already submitted their application forms.

No Editing Allowed for Already Submitted Applications

One of the most important announcements made by the authorities is that already submitted applications cannot be edited or modified during this reopened registration window.

The reason is that the document verification and scrutiny process has already commenced for applications received earlier. Allowing candidates to modify submitted forms at this stage would disrupt the ongoing verification process and delay the counselling schedule.

Therefore:

  • No corrections will be permitted.

  • No fresh document uploads will be accepted for previously submitted applications.

  • Candidates should not attempt to register again if they have already completed their application.

Minor Errors Will Not Affect Eligibility

The Selection Committee has also issued a reassuring clarification for candidates who are worried about minor spelling mistakes or typographical errors in applications already submitted.

Officials stated that:

  • Small clerical mistakes will be verified during the document scrutiny process.

  • Original certificates and supporting documents will be used for verification.

  • Such minor errors alone will not result in rejection of the application.

This announcement is expected to reduce anxiety among thousands of applicants who were concerned about inadvertent mistakes made during online registration.

Why the Portal Has Been Reopened

The reopening comes after numerous representations from students who could not complete the application process due to various reasons before the earlier deadline.

Recognizing the importance of providing equal opportunity to eligible NEET-qualified candidates, the Selection Committee has decided to reopen the portal for a limited period. However, authorities have emphasized that this is the final opportunityand applicants should complete the process immediately.

Steps to Complete the Application

Eligible candidates should:

1.    Visit the official Tamil Nadu medical admission portal.

2.    Register using the prescribed online application process.

3.    Fill in all personal, academic and NEET details carefully.

4.    Upload all required documents in the prescribed format.

5.    Pay the applicable application fee, if required.

6.    Verify every detail before final submission.

7.    Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Candidates are strongly advised to submit their applications well before 3:00 PM on July 27, 2026, instead of waiting until the final moments.

Important Advisory for Candidates

The Selection Committee has issued several important instructions:

  • The reopened window is exclusively for fresh applications.

  • Previously submitted forms cannot be edited.

  • Minor clerical mistakes will be addressed during document verification.

  • No application received after the revised deadline will be entertained.

  • No additional extension is likely to be announced.

Students are therefore encouraged to complete their registration without delay to avoid losing their opportunity for Tamil Nadu MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.

What Happens Next?

Once the application process concludes:

  • The Selection Committee will complete document scrutiny.

  • Eligible candidates will be included in the merit list prepared based on NEET UG 2026 scores and applicable reservation policies.

  • The Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling process will subsequently begin for allotment of MBBS and BDS seats in government, government quota, self-financing and dental colleges across the state.
