The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world clinical applications. Under the MoU, students will receive hands-on exposure to advanced genomic technologies, including next-generation sequencing platforms, molecular diagnostic tools, and genetic counselling methodologies. The initiative is expected to equip aspiring healthcare professionals with the practical knowledge required to navigate the growing shift toward personalised cancer treatment.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, S. Ponnusamy, Registrar of SRMIST, emphasized that the partnership will enable students to gain valuable industry exposure and advanced research experience. He noted that such collaborations are essential in preparing graduates for emerging roles in oncology, molecular medicine, and genomic healthcare.
Dinesh Chauhan, CEO of CORE Diagnostics, highlighted the urgent need for skilled professionals in the healthcare ecosystem who understand both the scientific and ethical dimensions of genetic testing. He stated that as genomic medicine becomes integral to cancer care, trained specialists are required to interpret complex data while maintaining ethical standards in patient care.
CORE Diagnostics operates in 11 countries and processes nearly 1,000 oncology cases daily. The collaboration with SRMIST is also expected to open avenues for joint research initiatives focused on improving cancer diagnosis, expanding genomic applications, and enhancing patient outcomes through data-driven precision medicine.
Focus on Precision Oncology and Genetic Counselling
