With this induction, SRMIST becomes one of 81 global organizations collaborating to address the escalating threat of drug-resistant infections worldwide.
Professor Alex Joseph from the Division of Epidemiology will lead SRMIST’s participation in the international taskforce. He noted that antimicrobial resistance is driven by multiple factors related to humans, animals, and environmental interactions, emphasizing the need for strong community-based interventions to curb resistance.
SRMIST’s inclusion in the WHO taskforce marks a significant milestone in India’s public health research and global AMR mitigation efforts.
