R.R.K.Shanmugam Educational Trust was founded during the centenary celebration of his birth to prepetuate the memory of the late DR.R.K.Shanmugam the first finance minister of independent India and former Vice chancellor of Annamalai University. The age long dream of the people of Kallakurichi thus came true when DR.R.K.Shanmugam College of Arts and Science was established.

The college started functioning from 1st July 1997. Original Affiliated to the University of Madras after bifurcation the college now stands Permanently Affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. It is accredited by NAAC New Delhi and recognized by UGC under section 2(f) & 12(B) of UGC act 1956.

To provide the rural youth access to higher education and to nurture them to make a positive contribution to public life with a thrust on Women empowerment.To instil confidence in the students to meet the challenges of the fast changing, competitive world.

1. The procedures given in this communication are applicable to all the
Government/Government Aided/Unaided colleges of Arts and Science in
Tamil Nadu. These are to observed both in letter and spirit. Where otherwise
stated these procedures for admission to UG/PG courses are common for
both.
2. All Government/Government Aided/Unaided Colleges in the State should use
the uniform Application Form already prescribed. The Tamil version may also
be given in the Application Form.
3. Enclosures:
Photocopies of the following should be enclosed along with the filled in
Application submitted:
a) Qualifying Examination Mark Sheet
b) Community Certificate (wherever applicable)
c) Certificate of proof when admission is sought under some Special
Quota/Concessions-like Physically Handicapped/ Sports Quota/ NCC/ ExServicemen etc.,
d) Transfer Certificate
e) Eligibility certificate for students from other States / Universities.
It is found from experience that many students commit mistakes in giving the
correct details or leave some columns blank. Such omissions and
commissions adversely affect the preparation of Rank-List. Original
Certificates are to be produced at the time of admission only.

The Placement Cell plays a major role in paving the way for success in a student’s career. With a consistent track record of achieving a maximum number of placed students, the department strives to ensure that no students are left out from achieving their dream job. Our training programs are focused towards a holistic development of building students expertise in Technical, Aptitude as well as Soft skills. Our unique skill-based assessment evaluates students based on their performance and knowledge levels. The main objective of the Cell is to bridge the gap between the stringent competition in the industry and with the existing talent available in the college.

Computer Lab
Spacious and specially designed Laboratory equipped with 230 Computer Systems. The systems are connected and are supported by IBM Xeon Server. Sufficient number of printers ranging from Dot Matrix, Laser and CD Writer of compound types are provided to enable the students to make their own Hard/Soft copies of their works. All the systems have multimedia facilities. A 30 MBPS high speed BSNL (Wi-Fi) is serving the department Laboratory round the clock to render Internet facility for the students. A computerized zone Where more than 15,000 titles of books, with multiple copies of text books, 30 national and international journal on different subjects are available. The spacious well-ventilated classrooms with natural light, electric lights and ceiling fans have been provided a comfortable environment for learning. Enough number of class rooms have projectors, audio visual facilities, public address system, display boards, well designed furniture facility in adequate numbers.

Transportation
College provides the Bus facility from various destinations to ensure safe and comfortable journey. Hence parents are requested to encourage the students to utilize the college bus services Bus facility to the college premises from Kallakurichi, Kachirayapalayam, Devapandalam, Sankarapuram, Thiyagadurugam, Thalaivasal, Mangalmpet, Ulundurpet, Perumangalm, Chinnasalem, Virugavur, Rishivandiyam and PagandaiKoottroad has been arranged. Our students are suggested to make use of the facility. Girls are advised to prefer the college bus for safety. Bus pass would be provided.
