C. Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering & Technology (CAHCET)

C. Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering & Technology ( CAHCET ) is a non-profit self-financed engineering college which was established in the year 1998 by the Melvisharam Muslim Educational Society (MMES). Though MMES was established in the year 1918 by Nawab C. Abdul Hakeem, the focus was to provide school education, and arts and science degrees through its first college named after Nawab.

The fabulous jewel of Madras Presidency, Nawab C. Abdul Hakeem Saheb, one of the best respected natives of Melvisharam, was Prince among traders and one time Sheriff of Madras. He cherished a golden dream of transforming his town into a splendid seat of great learning to cater to the educational needs of youth. Like the winds that have no barriers of caste or community, the Nawab's munificence lighted the lamp of joy and contentment in several poverty-ridden families. His colorful dreams have all been realized by the Melvisharam Muslim Educational Society founded in 1918 that strove hard to metamorphose Primary, Secondary and Higher Education into splendid segments of prestine enlightenment irrespective of caste, creed, community or social status. The work continues even now with redoubled zeal and rejuvenating spirit, with student ?s progress and welfare as ultimate goals. The MMES manages and maintains many institutions from primary to tertiary levels for people of all religious backgrounds in India.

CAHCET campus is located in Melvisharam, a town and suburb of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India which is approximately 100 km from Anna International Airport, Chennai.  The college is nestled in campus of 43.65 acres of greenery.

CAHCET is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University. The college has also acquired NAAC Cycle 3 Accreditation Certificate with A+ grade and CGPA 3.5. NIRF 2023 data has been submitted. Therefore, the programs offered at CAHCET are subjected to the affiliated university regulations.  

CAHCET offers 14 undergraduate and postgraduates programs including BE / BTech, ME/ MTech, MBA and MCA in the fields of  Engineering and Architecture, Management and Business Administration, Computer Application and IT.  The Eligibilty criteria for entrance into the college is TNEA for UG programs, GATE for PG courses and TANCET for MBA and MCA.


The campus houses several buildings including administration building, Mechanical Department, Electronics Department, Human Science Department, MBA Department, Automated Central Library, ICT classrooms, Auditorium, Conference and Seminar halls, Multimedia room, Computer and Research Labs, Internet centre, Hydraulic Multi Gym, Out and Indoors sports courts/grounds, Career Guidance Placement Cell, UPSC Centre,  Canteen and Cafeteria, CCTV Surveillance Camera for safety and security and Boys and Girls hostels.  Some of the facilities such as sports ground, Mosque, etc., are shared with its sister institution C. Abdul Hakeem College of Arts and Science.  The central library is one of the energy efficient buildings constructed in the campus. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and has 10 Mbit/s leased-line connectivity. CAHCET is also a lifetime member in Anna University´s EDUSAT Programme.


The institution has signed MOUs with several universities and industries. CAHCET signed its first international MoU with the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2013.

Placements: In our college, placements are excellent. Around 90% of students are placed every year. Top recruiting companies like TCS, Zoho, Cognizant, etc., visit our campus. The average salary package offered is 3.2 LPA to 3.5 LPA.

The fees which we paid is good for the college. At the time of the exam, you have to pay the exam fees. I got a scholarship from the government which reduced my second and third-year college fees. Actually, the truth is I didn't pay fees for the second and third year of my B.com due to the scholarship. And the fact is I was scoring more than 90 percent in all the semesters.
