ABOUT COLLEGE :
Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, the 130 years prestigious institution was founded by the British in 1891, with the speciality of its location had been in the High Court Campus. This institution had the privilege of being the 2nd oldest college in the country and the first law college started in south India. Originally named ‘Madras Law College’, later got renamed in 1991 as ‘Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College’ in commemoration of Birth Centenary of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar, the Father of Indian Constitution.
The college has the high prestigious record of having many illustrious students – Former President of India Thiru R.Venkataraman (1987-92) , Former Supreme Court Chief Justices- Thiru Pathanchali Sastry ( 1951 – 54 ) , Thiru Koka Subba Rao ( 1958 – 1967 ) , Thiru P. Sadasivam ( 2013 ), Former Supreme Court Judges- Thiru V. R. Krishna Aiyar, Thiru P.Satyanarayana Raju , Thiru. V Balakrishna Eradi, Tmt.Banumathi, innumerable Supreme Court Lawyers and High Court Judges including Thiru.M. Karpagavinayagam, Thiru. V. Periyakaruppiah, Thiru.P.D Dinakaran , Former Central Ministers including Thiru. P. Chidambaram, State Chief Ministers including Thiru. Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy, Thiru. C. Sankaran Nair, a former President of the Indian National Congress and many government officials.
In pursuance of the direction of the High court vide Writ Petition No. 11806 0f 2017 and vide G.0 No.188/2017 dated 28.06.2018 , the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law college located in the High Court campus was bifurcated and shifted to two different campuses, one of which is located at Pudupakkam, Tiruporur Taluk, Chengalpattu District.The campus has been declared open on 02.07.2018.
The campus accommodates approximately 1300 students who study five-year LLB Programme and LLM Programme. The classrooms and other buildings have come up in 15.56 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 57.41 crore.
The college is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University and functions as per the rules and regulations of the All India Bar Council and is of international standards. With a view of improving the quality, the campus encompasses smart classrooms with a facility to analyse historical judgments made worldwide, a hi tech library which can accommodate over 2000 readers , a model court , air conditioned auditorium housing 1000 students/audience, indoor and outdoor stadiums, separate hostels for men and women, special facilities for the differently-abled individuals, CCTV Circuiting covering the entire campus, bio metric facilities , Wi-Fi facilities etc.

ADMISSION PROCESS :
ELIGIBILITY – 5 YEAR COURSE
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination under 10+2 pattern with not less than 45% of marks which is recognized by the syndicate as equivalent to Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu, are eligible for admission.
For S.C./S.T. candidates concession of 5% marks in the minimum of marks required for admission for LL.B. 5 year Degree Course of study as prescribed in the regulations will be given.
ELIGIBILITY – P.G COURSE
A candidate who has passed the B.L./LL.B Degree Examination and has secured not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in all the Three Years of the Three Year B.L./LL.B Degree Course or in all Five Years of the Five Year B.L. / LL.B Degree Course together, as the case may be, shall be eligible to apply for the LL.M. Degree Course. However a relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belong in to SC/ST communities.

Admission of the candidates is done on the basis of the candidates’ merit score in an entrance examination CLAT.

The admission process can be done both online and offline.
Online Mode
- Visit the official website of TNDALU @tndalu.ac.in
- Students need to register on the website and fill in the application form.
- Upload the mandatory documents and submit the application form fees through online payment means.
- Submit the form and take a printout of the same for future references.
Offline Mode
- Pay the required application fee and download the application from the official website of TNDALU.
- The downloaded application form along with photocopies of required documents and receipt of the payment has to be sent to the following documents-

Moot CourtThe Campus has a moot court Hall which could train young Mooters to learn the skills of Mooting and enable themselves to be Competent to participate in Moot Competitions conducted by other colleges in India. So far various National Moot Competitions such as Govindasamy National moot court Competition, Fiat Justicia National Moot Competition, Philip.C.Jessup International(National Level) Moot Court Competiton was conducted.
