Government Law College, Salem - GLC-SLM was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in the year 2021. The name of Government Law College, Salem is steadily embarking its way to be added in the Hall of Fame in the history of Legal Education in Tamil Nadu and stepping stones of success had already been strongly laid down by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru Edappadi K.Palanisamy who’s dream vision was to start a LAW COLLEGE in the City of Salem to cater the needs of many students who are aspiring to learn law in this region. Steps towards Success for any institution is always in the hands of an able administrator. A strong foundation at GLC Salem has been laid down by the Special Officer, Dr.K.S.Gopalakrishnan for taking all initiatives in setting up base for bigger achievements.

Government Law College, Salem is situated at Government High School Campus, Maniyanur, Salem, Tamil Nadu on an 18 Acres Campus out of which 2.30 Lac Sft is the constructed area, Salem Junction Railway Station is 22 Kms from the College and Salem Airport is at a distance of 37 Kms. GLC-SLM is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the highest rating of A++. The College offers only Undergraduate Courses at the moment. The College offers Five year Integrated BA, LLB and three year LLB Courses where the students will also undergo Internships, Moot Courts, Simulation and Negotiation exercises every year to get acquainted with the actual functioning of the Courts and Tribunals.

Eligibility for the Undergraduate 5 Year B.A., LL.B Course allows candidates who have passed the qualifying examination under 10+2 pattern with not less than 45% of marks which is recognized by the syndicate as equivalent to Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu, are eligible for admission.For S.C./S.T. candidates concession of 5% marks in the minimum of marks required for admission for B.L. 5 year Degree Course of study as prescribed in the regulations will be given.

Eligibility for the Undergraduate 3 Year LL.B Course is allowed for candidates who have passed a Three year Degree Examination of Universities in Tamil Nadu and Such degree awarded by Member Universities of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi for purpose of mutual recognition on reciprocal basis, after 10+2+3+ or 11+1+3 pattern and also recognized by Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University alone are eligible for admission to B.L. (3 years) Degree Course.

Scholarships are available for all students meeting the eligibility norms as per specific G.O issued by the Govt of Tamil Nadu.
