ABOUT 

Government Law College, Tiruchirapalli was established in the year of 1979. The college is affiliated to Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai & approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. It is administered by the Tamil Nadu’s Department of Legal Studies.

Campus

The college campus is situated on the Race Course Road, Khajamalai, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. The college has world class infrastructure with separate administrative, academic & students blocks. The campus is spread over 13 acres of land.

Facilities

There is a hostel accommodation for girls with security & mess facility. The computer labs are well-equipped with the internet connectivity & modern technology. The library is well-stocked with the huge gathering of books, reports, projects, periodicals & journals. Other facilities offered by the college are: video conferencing hall, seminar hall, canteen, spacious classrooms with the LCD projector, moot court hall, sports, auditorium, etc.

Established at the heart of Tamilnadu, The Government Law College, Trichy is a pioneer for legal education in Central Tamilnadu. The legal education we seek to offer recognises that law is part of a wider social context. It is not merely a set of rules and procedures created in isolation by legislators, administrators and judges. Our vision of legal education includes equipping students with the capacity to think critically, and to deliberate on current legal issues. Our academics participate in advisory roles to government agencies, lawyers, community and business organisations, and are active in the wider community.

The strength of any law school lies in the calibre of its staff and students, the resources of its library, and the support it gets from the profession and alumni. The Government Law College Trichy is very fortunate on every score. We are supported by Experienced and dedicated Faculty Members, administrative staff, and the Law Library has our countries most extensive collection of legal research materials. My academic colleagues have expertise that spans the range of legal subjects: from business law, criminal law, property law, constitutional law, labour law,  tax and international law, the environmental law and human rights. They have national and international reputations in their fields.

Our students epitomise philosophy of academic rigour coupled with enthusiasm for the law. In 2018, our students performed extremely well in state as well as national level competitive events and won laurels and accolades. Sensing the need for research and continuing legal education, the Government Law College Trichy has successfully organised many National level seminars for the academic enrichment of Faculty members and students and also for the professional enhancement of the legal fraternity. Admission Process of Government Law College in Tiruchirapalli

ELIGIBILITY – 5 YEAR COURSE

Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination under 10+2 pattern with not less than 45% of marks which is recognized by the syndicate as equivalent to Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu, are eligible for admission.
For S.C./S.T. candidates concession of 5% marks in the minimum of marks required for admission for B.L. 5 year Degree Course of study as prescribed in the regulations will be given.
