Computer literacy programme was initiated by the government of tamilnadu in all government arts and science colleges to enrich all undergraduate non-computer science students from the year 2000-2001.

Features
This course was exclusively designed and geared with updated systems towards providing the required knowledge to the students and for their upliftments in computer literacy.
This course has been conducted for students from all disciplines excepting computer science.
Initially, a separate lab was established with 25 computers and other necessary equipments and a certificate course was conducted in NIIT, under a contract period of 5 years.
In the year 2005-2006, the CLP lab with all equipments was handed over to the college by NIIT and thereafter course had been conducted successfully for all the first year under graduate students.
For this programme, a separate well-equipped air conditioned computer lab with internet broadband connectivity has been developed. Each and every student has been provided with a separate terminal.
Six month course is being offered for Rs.700/- with 90 hours practical and 60 hours theory classes. An examination is conducted by the directorate of collegiate education, chennai at the end of the course and a valid certificate is issued.

Thiru.A. Syed Usman, the Principal, acted as the President of the Alumni Association, presided over the function and motivated to take effort to organize the Alumni Association for the welfare of the Students and College Development who formally inaugurated the Alumni Association on 22.04.2007.
As like many stalwarts who had studied in this Prestigious Thiruvalluvar Govt. Arts College in various periods and has been serving in the various arena of the Administration, Police Department, Central and State Services, College Professors, School Teachers, Judiciary Department, and Private Businesses etc., within country and overseas are key alumni members.

The General Library of the college functions since the inception of the college and has a huge collection of Books, Periodicals and Newspapers that caters to the need of the Student Community.

General Library of the college has 37,425 books and the books are dispersed to concerned departments as soon as the purchase is made for the easy access of students and faculty member. 37 Journals are available in tamil and English.
Provides 7 news papers in tamil and English to the students in order to update them with day-to-day news.
Library functions from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm in all working days.
All the UG,PG students and Research Scholars are given member cards to take the books from the library.
Students are encourages and permitted to refer books, journals and articles in the free time.
Library takes more efforts to enhance the reading habits of students by conducting “A Readers Club Vasagar Vattam”. Oratorical ,Essay Writing and Verse Writing competitions are conducted for all department students in this club.
Rotary Hellen Keller Talking Book Library is available in the general library for visually challenged students and slow learners.
PG students ,M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars are given an intense orientation about INFLIBNET N-LIST programme to create awareness about how to make use of e-resources effectively to enrich their project, dissertations and thesis. It also helps the students to present papers effectively and efficiently in workshops, seminars and conferences in the colleges.
