The history of V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, a temple of learning founded by a great visionary Shri V.V.Vanniaperumal Nadar with a singular objective of empowering rural women through higher education, is a saga of human excellence, endurance and commitment for six decades

Having started with a meagre strength in 1962, the institution has grown by leaps and bounds into one of the reputed women's colleges in Tamilnadu. The strength has reached 3753 students of which 1825 are admitted in aided programmes and 1928 are admitted in self finance programmes. The college offers 27 UG programmes, 13 PG programmes and 6 Ph.D. programmes. At present, there are 206 teaching faculty members in our college. There are earnest and enthusiastic 196 non-teaching staff. The college became an autonomous institution in 2009 and it was reaccredited with 'A' GRADE (3rd cycle) in 2018 by NAAC.

Mission

·         The mission of the library is to provide the stakeholders with the information they need to achieve their highest academic potential and help them acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning.

Objectives:

·         To impart qualitative and quantitative academic service to the community.

·         To exploit knowledge through state-of-art technology.

·         To satisfy the academic needs in turn serve the society through the vision and mission of the college.

·                              The College ensures publicity and transparency in the admission process in all possible aspects. An Admission Committee with the Principal as the Chairman and four senior teaching faculty including a representation from the socially disadvantaged community is formed as per the government norms. The College adopts reservation-cum-merit policy which ascertains equity and social justice.

·                    Information regarding the dates of the issue of application forms, last date for the submission of filled-in applications is available in the college website www.vvvcollege.org. Provision for downloading the application forms from the website is also available. College Prospectus provides detailed information regarding courses offered, Fees structure,eligibility criteria and facility available.

·                    Selection List and Waiting List are displayed in the College notice board. Transparency is maintained from the stage of notification till the completion of admission process following the Government norms. At the time of admission, the faculty members guide and counsel the applicants and the parents through 'Help Desks'. The Physically challenged students are prioritized in the admission process as per the government guidelines to instil confidence in them. The list of admitted students for various courses is duly sent to the University and Joint Director of Collegiate Education. Admission card is sent to the selected candidates and their certificates are verfied by the admission committee.

Placement Cell

Objectives:

·         To provide guidance to the students in career planning, resume preparation, Interview skills and communicative skills.

·         To help and guide the students to find employment suited to their abilities and skills.

·         To provide training to the students regarding Employability skills, Tips for group discussion and how to prepare for competitive examinations.

Highlights of the Placement Cell

      The placement cell of our college is keen on exposing our students to job opportunities available through various Job Fairs conducted at our college by leading companies. Our aspiring students have been selected in various reputed companies like Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tata consultancy services etc.

Training Programe

Under Graduate:

       All the final year UG students are given training on aptitude weekly twice during the odd semester and even semester.
      At the end of the semester, a common assessment test was conducted for the students of Aided and Self Financing courses from the topics taught to them in the semester. During the even semester, all the final year UG students are given training on aptitude weekly once.

Post Graduate:

       As a part of placement Training, Soft skills training classes for final year PG students had been conducted once in a month to improve their inter personal skills and team building.

GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES

SC/ST under 92 TNER for PG Students

      P.G. Students belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes (including converts) are eligible for concession in tuition fees under 92 TNER if they produce community certificate.

Adi Dravida Welfare Department

      Adi Dravida Welfare Scholarship is granted under Government of India and State Government Schemes. SC/ST students whose parent’s annual income is below Rs.2,00,000/- are eligible for the above scholarship. The SC/ST students whose parents’ annual income is above Rs.2,00,000/- are eligible for award of free education i.e., reimbursement of Special fee, examination fee etc.,

      Hostel students who have not applied under the above scheme and studying in U.G. Degree classes are also granted a sum of Rs.6,500/- each as Higher Education Special Scholarship. P.G. Students are granted a sum of Rs.7,000/-.

      U.G degree students who have joined the First year of the programme are eligible for Chief Minister Award of Rs.3,000/- each, if they obtain highest marks which are prescribed by the ADTWD.

Backward Class Welfare Department

      All U.G (Reg) students belonging to BC, MBC and DNC are eligible for award of free education i.e., Reimbursement of special fee, examination fee etc.,

      Residential Scholarship is sanctioned by the B.C.W Dept. to the U.G and P.G (Reg) students belonging to BC, MBC and DNC, if their parent’s annual income does not exceed Rs.2,00,000/-. Since the scholarship amount is disbursed through ECS by Welfare Departments, the students should open an account in the Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank Extension Counter in our College Campus.

Children of Ceylon and Burma Repatriates

      Financial assistance and concession are granted to students who are the children of Ceylon and Burma repatriates on submission of necessary certificate.

National Merit Scholarship

      This scholarship is granted on merit basis only. Prescribed forms and entitlement cards are sent directly through the school in which they studied last. National merit scholarship is awarded to the children of teachers, working in primary and secondary grade schools.

Students' Aid Fund

      Monetary help is given to students from Students' Aid Fund. Students who are not getting any other scholarship alone are eligible for this aid. Selection will be on the basis of merit, parent’s annual income and in accordance with the rules of committee.

Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child

      In order to achieve and promote girl’s education, UGC has introduced a Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child with an aim to compensate direct costs of girl education to all levels especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

      The main aim of this scheme is to provide opportunities of higher education to weaker sections of Minority Communication in view of enhancing their employability rate. The Students pursuing graduation, Post-graduation, M.Phil. or Ph.D. who have scored at least 50% marks or equivalent in the previous exam and whose annual income of the family does not exceed Rs.2,00,000/- are eligible to apply.

INSTITUTIONAL AND NON GOVERNMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Retired Teachers Fund

      As the crowning achievement of our Golden Jubilee Celebrations, our retired Principals and all our retired faculty are generous enough to institute the fund of Rs.2,06,000/- entitled “V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women Retired Teachers Kamadhenu Golden Jubilee Fund” to help the economically disadvantaged students of Self-Financing Courses.

V.A.M Chidambara Nadar - Mangayarkarasi Ammal 75th Birthday Scholarship

      A fund of Rs.2,00,000/- has been instituted in the name of “V.A.M. Chidambara Nadar – Mangayarkarasi Ammal 75th Birthday Scholarship”. The scholarship amount of Rs.1000/- each will be provided for the even semester (November) to ten needy students recommended by the Head of the Department with the acceptance of the Principal.

V.V.VANNIAPERUMAL PENGAL KALLOORI PALAYAMANAVIYAR SANGAM

      The final year students of both UG and PG of every year are eligible to be the member of V.V.Vanniaperumal Pengal Kalloori PALAYAMANAVIYAR SANGAM. Those students are eligible to contribute funds as they constitute to be the alumni of the institution next year. It has been a registered organization since 2017.

      Departments which have Alumni Fund like Karpaga Viruksha, Pon Onjal, Cornucopia, Springs, Akshaya, KamaDhenu etc., generated by them will be sent to the registered Palayamanaviyar Sangam Account. Selected students of the concern department will get their scholarship amount as indicated by the department.

GURUSHISYA

      This fund is generated by the contributions of the Teachers who are in active service. Meritorious Students whoever need financial assistance and are approved by the Head of the concern Departments will get their scholarship.

SPORTS BOOSTING SCHEME

      This scheme was instituted by the College Managing Board in the year 2008 to promote a healthy sports culture and to encourage the sports students. For the new entrants 100% academic and hostel fee will be provided if they produce State, National, and International Championship at school level. Other students (II Year, III Year and PG) will be given full and half percentage scholarship depending upon their performance in sports.

HINDU SAMAYA VAZHIPAATU KAZHAHAM

      This scheme generates funds by the contribution of the faculties every month. The students who have a poor economic status as identified and recommended by the fraternity of teachers are given free lunch.

K. V. R MEMORIAL FOUNDATION IDHAYAM RAJENDRAN CHARITIES AND ROTARY CLUB OF VIRUDHUNAGAR

      This scholarship is initiated by the trio philanthropists K. V. R Memorial Foundation Idhayam Rajendran Charities and Rotary Club in the year 2021-2022. This scholarship is eligible for the students whose father is expired. This current year this scheme also benits the students who are physically challenged.

SULTAN CHAND DROPADI DEVI FUND

      This scheme is instituted by the Sultan Chand Publishing House whose motive is to support financially the students who have high calibre. The students of all branches of Commerce are eligible to apply. The fund will be given to the top most academic performer of Commerce.

THAIYAL THOZHILALAR WELFARE ASSOCIATION SCHEME

      This scheme is strengthening the college students whose mother has been registered in the Thozhilalar Sangam. This scheme helps the students of Tailors. The college helps in providing the necessary details enabling the students to claim and get benefitted under this scheme.

RANI SATHIYAVAN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

      This scheme is initiated by a philanthraphist exclusively for our college students who are talented and needy. This scholarship is being given to the student consecutively for all the three years towards the completion of her degree.
