Impact on Counselling & Future Enrolment
The approved seats will be incorporated into the 2025–26 counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which oversees the allocation of DM and M.Ch seats on a 100% Super-Specialty basis as per NMC and Ministry of Health guidelines.
NMC has clarified that the
list published will serve for counselling purposes, and individual Letters
of Permission (LOPs) for the newly sanctioned seats are being issued. These
LOPs will form the official basis for admissions and deserve prompt attention
from eligible candidates looking to secure seats in their chosen
super-specialty fields.
What This Means for Medical Aspirants
- Increased opportunities for specialization in high-demand areas such as cardiology, critical care, oncology, and neurosurgery.
- Greater diversity of institutional choices across the country.
- Boost to healthcare delivery, as more specialists become available to serve in clinical, research, and academic roles.
With India’s healthcare needs rapidly evolving, this expansion underscores the country’s commitment to strengthening its super-specialty medical education ecosystem and preparing a future-ready workforce of highly skilled clinicians.
